  • Description

    Hi, my name is Reese!
I am looking to learn from people who are living sustainably and using regenerative agriculture and agroforestry techniques and any other form of sustainable food systems who I can learn from! As I get older I realize that living in harmony with the earth is of the utmost importance to me and that I want to orient my life around being reciprocal, sustainable and community oriented. I grew up in Topanga, CA in nature and taking care of the earth was often implied in my life and the lives of the people around me. So, Once I went to college in a city, I realized that city life was not at all the world I wanted to live and be in. That taking care of this earth and the people on it and building community is where I need to be:)

I have spent most of my life working with horses and animals. And have spent a fair amount of time in small gardens! I have worked a myriad of different jobs from being a Funeral arranger that focused on shamanic and alternative death ceremonies- to being a horseback riding teacher for young kids to personal assistant. I am deeply interested in biodynamic bee-keeping, agroforestry, land stewardship and natural horsemanship and this has led me to seek out workaway since I am no longer in school, but love learning! I spent this summer learning Syntropic Agroforestry and am looking to continue down the path of syntropic farming and agroforesty practises as I really connected with this form of food production!

I love learning new things and working outside and am down to help with whatever projects you may have!

Other info about me– I love music especially jazz and folk and dancing! Some of my favorites are Bob Dylan, Karen Dalton, Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru and Wes Montgomery. I graduated High School early and spent a couple months in Morocco working with sexual education NGOs as well as protestor rights and education around their immigrant and refugee crisis happening there. I love reading and chocolate! And am looking forward to learning more about you and your way of life!

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

-I have worked extensively on Farms mostly with horses but also with chickens, cows, pigs, goats, turkeys, alpacas and donkeys. I have taught horseback riding to children and adults, led trail rides, animal care and maintenance( feed, clean, rotate, trailer, train, and love). As well as help people process emotions that may come up when working with animals for the first time.

    - I have worked in herb and vegetable gardens and have some permaculture knowledge as well as house plant care.

-I have attended culinary school in Spain as well as learned a lot from my father who was an avid cook my whole life and would love to cook and teach people what I know about cooking!

    - I have taught drawing and painting and worked for many years in ceramics and would love to share this knowledge with any of you who would like to learn or help you with an art project you may want to start or are in the middle of.

-While in school I worked as a Gallery Assistant so I have some basic construction knowledge and spend a lot of time painting and fixing wall damage. I am on my feet all day and lifting heavy artwork and can use hand held power tools and some shop tools.

-During my gap year before college I worked in a Funeral Home who's ceremonies were based in Traditional Shamanism, I helped with a variety of different ceremonies as well as dealt with the organization and preparation for the funerals This put me in close proximity with grief and loss and anger and gave me the opportunity to learn how to help hold space for people during an extreme change in their life as well as drastically changed my understanding of life and death.

-I have experience with Logic Pro, Adobe Suite, Rhino 4, Reaper, Photography, Scientific Illustration, Painting/Murals, and Ceramics.
