Hi hello there!
My name is Pieter (you probably already knew that, but I have to start somewhere). What has driven me to Workaway is the fact that I would love to learn basically anything that is related to self-sustaining/self-sufficient living! Everything about gardening, farming, maintenance, but also the real deal such as generating your own energy, making your own clothes, and other necessary things to meet your needs!

So that's the dull story, but I'm also just very excited to meet new people and have lots of unique experiences (cheesy but true). I am mainly interested in travelling to and working in Northern Europe (Scandinavia and the Baltics), and would love to get to know more about those cultures and their customs!

What brings me happiness are a lot of things, from gardening to playing the guitar, to reading a good detective, to stand-up comedy (both as audience and as comedian :), to baking bread or cakes, to old people jazzbands, to my mum's lasagna, to soggy cookies (don't judge until you try). To be honest, this list can go on and on, but I hope it gives you some idea of who I am (and not only just guy that likes soggy cookies).

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have quite some experience in (basic) gardening practise.
I had a garden with home-grown veggies and herbs at home when I was a kid and started my own one now that I am living out of the house. Obviously, I grow everything completely organic and I don't use any toxins or other bad stuff that harms the environment, and I care for bees and other pollinators! On top of this, I worked in the gardening department of the local zoo here for over a year. This also brought me a lot of green knowledge. Oh and maybe good to mention is that I study at an agricultural university, and I'm an environmentalist (first time I call myself this), meaning that I try to live as sustainable as possible (without losing all the fun of life). I have no experience with livestock, but would be very excited to gain it!

Other more general skills and characteristics of mine include my never-ending motivation and enthusiasm, my perseverance, and my ability to work in a structured and well-planned way. I always take responsibility and am involved in my work and social life.
