Hi!

I am Peter, a 245year old from Ireland. I have been travelling now for over a year now. Namely at 3 dog shelters and one Workaway, now my second home, near Valencia in Spain for 6 months!

All of the dog shelters were brilliant experiences, and ones which I will cherish every day. Looking after 140 dogs daily in one shelter, to 45 in the next, and carrying out tasks like feeding, walks, medications etc. It truly revitalised my soul and did not feel like work at all.

At my most recent Workaway, the work tended to be more so handyman-type work. I spent a lot of time putting up fencing, making repairs, concreting, or chasing a goose to his pen to receive his breakfast! I also looked after the social media side of things for some time and this was also enjoyable for me

My passions include caring for dogs, travelling, and taking in new cultures. I love meeting new people, I believe strong social interactions and connections are the key to a happy life. I feel like we all need people to help us through the challenges of being a human. That was what was so special about my previous Workaway in Valencia. We all helped each other through any physical or emotional problem we found ourselves in, and I believe there is great strength in that. I also feel that my Workaway experiences won't be limited to only dog shelters! I would love to experience other hosts and ways of living.

I was very lucky to have made some very close friends on my past Workaways, many of whom I have travelled with later, and I can't wait to make more. Learning about other cultures and viewpoints interests me greatly. I believe there is a great big world out there and I'll be damned if I don't see it!!

I love to help people as well as animals. Making someone laugh is a beautiful thing to do, and I feel I can do that pretty well!!

I have been practicing my Spanish every day, and it is coming along nicely - the goal is to reach fluency in the future.

I have good social skills - like most Irish!
I have skills in dog care, including: feeding, medications, bathing, walking etc.
I am experienced at grass cutting and can assist with general maintenance / handyman type work.

I like staying active in the gym, playing football, board games, pool, and (perhaps more niche, snooker). I also really enjoy yoga and meditation. Staying in the present moment is key!!
