Description
Hi, I am a 57 year old non smoking vegan, but very young at heart.
I used to do a lot of travelling in my youth and I would like to do more now that I am free from responsibilty and debt again. I have two fantastic kids who are now grown up and living their own lives, so I have quit my job of 25 years (bus driving) and am willing to travel anywhere to make a positive difference to somebody's life and the planet, as a vegan volunteer I will consider all kinds of work except where it involves harming or using animals against their will.
I am fit and healthy and have no health conditions.
Although not qualified, I have a lot of experience of general D.I.Y. maintenance and will give anything a go.

I am a very experienced driver with a full PCV licence
I enjoy cooking and can competently prepare meals for individuals or groups. (Vegan of course)
I have a lot of maintenance/repair experience of basic carpentry, plumbing and some electrical work.
Recently been hedge-laying, wood splitting and cladding a log cabin at off-grid locations.

I have also been a volunteer at two kibbutzim in Israel when I was younger.

Stayed here for 4 weeks, helped with a lot of projects, there's plenty of work to do. Loads of lovely animals to spend time with, great location, nice accomodation. I enjoyed my time here before visiting more of the South island and returning to the UK.

Paul stayed with us for 5 weeks and what a difference he made! He built two shelters by himself, one was large enough for camels. This involved using the digger, auger and bucket as well as concrete. What a FANTASTIC place!
I stayed here for just over a month and really enjoyed it. Lynne is a brilliant host and the accomodation and food provided were lovely. Paul was an absolute asset to the centre whilst he was here. He was very skilled at all the tasks we gave him - including garden work, landscaping, building, maintenance and lots of other odd jobs. Fantastic place, I stayed here for 3 weeks over Xmas and New Year and helped to get a lot of work done. All the residents and volunteers were great, the food was lovely and always a vegan option. I would love to come back again sometime, a great experience. 💚

I spent a month here from the beginning of June, '22 and really enjoyed the experience, so many wonderful animals to spend time with. Hermione is very friendly and obviously cares for all the residents, including the other volunteers.
I will miss everyone and would visit and work here again if I am in the area with time to spare.
