I would describe myself as optimistic, creative, social and curious. I enjoy being active and outdoors. I love meeting new people, facing and overcoming new challenges and of course travelling!
Description
I am currently taking a gap year from education to allow me to travel, see the world, encounter new people and cultures and have a bit of an adventure. Through inter-railing and bag packing around Europe, I have found a love for exploring new places, meeting diverse groups of people, learning about different cultures and ways of life from all over the world.
I think that ultimately people motivate and bring me happiness. One of the many phrases that I have been raised on is “The world is about people”. I am bubbly and outgoing and have always found great pleasure and inner peace from talking, working with, helping and just being with others. I believe in working as communities and in giving back to the world.
I have spoken to some friends who have volunteered in the past and I can see how much they enjoyed it and developed as individuals. Growing up in a busy household of seven, we always had workaways helping us out. From a young age I have always aspired be a ‘workawayer’ as we called it. At this stage in my life, I have the opportunity to give my time and I would love to give it a try. After having a fantastic workaway experience last month, I am keen to do more!
Volunteering is the ideal path for me as it is a marriage of my love for helping and meeting new people and my love for travelling. I try to be socially aware and keep up with world events. I would love to work in a progressive environment where I bring my perspective and learn and develop.
I have always enjoyed being outdoors and active. Growing up I was always involved in sport teams including Gaelic football, soccer, competitive swimming... you name it, I have tried it, which goes for instruments as well as sports!
I am optimistic and proactive. I love encountering new challenges that push me and help develop and add to my skill set.Centres d’intérêt

I pride myself in having a variety of skills, experiences and abilities.
My Father is a soccer coach and has allowed me to assist him with coaching under eight boys which was very insightful and educational. During the Coronavirus lockdowns I tutored and supported a child aged 11 with dyslexia through Zoom – helping her with her schoolwork. When I was in my fifth year of secondary school, I was a Peer Mentor. I supported and guided First Year students as well as organised and ran activities alongside the other mentors to further their learning and development. Last Christmas, I worked as an elf at a Santa Grotto, where I hugely enjoyed creating a magical experience for children. I adore spending time with children and have babysat a range of children.
I am a very creative person, I was awarded a H1 in Art and in English (top marks) in the Leaving Certificate. I have always thrived in artistic and imaginative projects. I have completed grade 6 in piano and grade 4 in the traditional flute.
In 2021, I completed the Future Leaders programme, ran by the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association), which developed my maturity, initiative and leadership skills. I have been a member of many teams in sport and work including football, swimming, debating, restaurant, bar and hotel. I enjoy working as part of a team and my key skills include communication, decision-making, innovation. Through my work in teams, I understand the need to be adaptable, supportive and inclusive.
I have worked in serval hospitality environments including The Four Winds Pub as a bartender and cleaner, O'Carroll's Cove as a bartender, Inchydoney House Hotel (4-star hotel) as a waitress, Crossmahon Pub as a bartender and kitchen assistant, The Little Tipple (coffee truck) as a barista and baker. I worked as a tutor during Lockdown 1-3 (2020). I have worked as a babysitter for numerous families. As mentioned above; I worked as an elf in a Santa’s Grotto last Christmas (2022), assisted coaching under eight boys' soccer in Lyre Soccer club and as a Peer Mentor in Sacred Heart Secondary School where I also completed the Future Leaders programme run by the GAA. I have completed up to and including Rescue 2 lifesaving courses with Irish Water Safety. I am a qualified Pool Lifeguard through RLSS, I received the qualification in October 2021. I completed Safe Guarding 1 in February 2022.
One of my sisters has special needs and I regularly help her through the day and with her learning – this has really developed my understanding of the need to be planned and patient and how to build rapport.
Throughout the last few years, I have gained various experience volunteering. I have volunteered numerous times with CoAction. CoAction provides a range of services for children with intellectual disability and/or autism. This charity has supported my sister and family and holds a dear place in my heart. I have walked with them in St. Patrick day parades as well as assisted raising money and helping project planning, for example the £2 project, where we successfully raised both money and awareness. I raised money for Rapid Response and a local cancer charity, A Ok, with my Foroige youth group by organising and performing in a variety show. I raised money through birthday collections for my last two birthdays for A Ok and Capuchin Homeless Center, Dublin. I look forward to volunteering more, using and improving my skills to help others.Âge
