Hi I'm Nico! Just a regular human, travelling, volunteering, honing my ideas and stepping out of my comfort zone. I work as a hiking and biking guide for an active travel company and love life!
My happy place is when I'm moving, ideally outside enjoying nature:hiking, cycling, surfing, etc.
I am curious and I love learning and enjoy paradigm shifts, non linear thinking and neurodivergence. However, I am also a big fan of not taking anything seriously, dancing and laughing hysterically. It depends on the day. Something that does not depend on the day, is my love of all things bread related.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Guiding: I work for an active travel company which is essentially 6 days of exploring regions biking, hiking and other activities. It's a mixture of hosting a dinner party, interpretive guiding, bike mechanics and driving a 15 seater van with a trailer. It is so much fun!
Agriculture: I've worked on a few farms in Japan, Brazil, Canada, Ecuador as well as a vineyard in Chile; bed prepping, seeding, weeding and harvesting, beekeeping as well as animal husbandry.
Cooking: I worked as a kitchen hand in a ski lodge in Japan and I am an enthusiastic self taught cook and baker.
Languages: I love learning languages and have worked as an English and French teacher for adults and children in Montreal.
Hospitality: I worked in a high paced fine dining restaurant as well as a microbrewery in Montreal. In Japan I worked in a hostel as well as a hotel in Osaka and a ski lodge in Niigata. I also worked at a hostel in Ecuador.
Admin/bookkeeping: I was in charge of a day-care with 120 kids and 25 employees in Montreal.

Skills I am looking to develop:
- Outdoor guiding: interpretation, survival, first aid
- Food. I want to continue developing my cooking skills, and learn about foraging, hunting, fishing, preservation, making cheese and preserves, cooking with a wood fired oven.
- Agriculture : I want to learn more about regenerative agriculture, animal husbandry, permaculture, agroforestry, rotational grazing, apiculture, food forests.
- Hospitality and agritourism. I want to learn more about hospitality industry, particularly the organisation and business side.
- DIY skills: carpentry, building, renovating, earthships
I am curious, a quick learner, adaptable, communicate effectively and work well under pressure.
