Hi everyone!

I'm Michela, a bubbly and joyfilled 22-year-old girl from Italy ☻ I've just finished my Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management. Since my Master's will begin in February 2025, I have a couple of months that I want to use to serve someone else. This is exactly why I decided to be a volunteer.

Just to give you a little background about me, I am Christian deeply in love with Jesus. Therefore, I live by the principles and values taught in the Bible. Almost two years ago I had a pretty big health issue that completly changed my prespective about life. It made me more aware of the blessing it is to have parents and people that help you through the more challenging seasons in life. Though this experience as a volunteer, I hope I will be able to show the same kind of grace and steadfast support I have received. Specifically, I'd love to help families with kids, play with the children, teach them English, help around the house (clean, cook, iron, etc.). My desire is to take care of the more mundane task and enable the parents to enjoy more time for themselves and with their kids. Additionally, I absolutely believe that children are a blessing from above so it'd be a joy to be a big sister to them.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Over the last 8 years, I have worked as a volunteer both during high school and University. I've always worked with children younger than me, either to teach them specific subjects or to mentor them through their school journey. I love to understand how a child thinks, how they best acquire new knowledge and what are the challenges they want to overcome. I'm patient at heart and love a good laugh, so I don't fear having to repeat myself nor having to be goofy to make sure children don't get bored.

The experience I will always cherish the most was being a volunteer to teach English to elementary school children from Ukraine. Their familes flee from the war and found asylum in Bolzano (BZ), the city I lived in during my undergraduate degree. Words can not explain what it meant to hear the stories from their parents, then getting to know the children and still seeing a smile on their sweet faces, despite of their circumstances.

In the past 3 years, during University, I've lived with 6 different people. I've learned what it means to share a place with someone else, follow cleaning schedules, adapt to the routines and preferences of others, meal prep and approach every situation with a listening ear instead of judment. Having grown up in an Italian family, I do have a heart for cooking, keeping the house tidy and love chatting with new people.

Lastly, I absolutely enjoy getting to know people from other parts of the world. For this reason, I cannot wait to know your family, your traditions and see what makes you and your city/country unique!
