We are a young couple traveling together to Sydney, Australia. We are at a point in our lives where we want to experience new places, challenge ourselves, and meet fascinating people. Our time in Australia will be our first Workaway experience, and we are both very excited about what we will encounter and learn.

We love spending time outdoors, staying active, and caring for animals. We also enjoy cooking and baking, and we’re eager to learn how to prepare a variety of delicious foods.

Melina:
Hi! My name is Melina, and I’m from Washington State, United States. I’m 20 years old, and over the past couple of years, I’ve developed a love for traveling and learning about new cultures. I believe these experiences help us better understand ourselves and the world we live in.

After spending a couple of years in college exploring different subjects, I realized that I’m very interested in Environmental Science and will likely study it further in the future. For a while now, I’ve thought about how Workaway could be the perfect way to combine my love for traveling and the environment while learning new skills.

In my free time I enjoy running, practicing yoga, meditation, painting, and writing. One of my biggest motivations is knowing that my efforts can bring happiness to myself and those around me. I believe that hard work is an important part of a good life, as long as it is aligned with one’s values.

Toke:

Hello! My name is Toke. I’m 21 years old and currently live in Denmark. I have always loved traveling and have been blessed with family and friends who share that sentiment. Because of this, I’ve had the chance to visit many different and fascinating places such as China, The U.S. and a variety in Europe including Italy, the Netherlands and Bulgaria.

I’m not entirely sure what I’ll be doing over the next couple of years, but I thought I might as well spend some of that time trying new and exciting things.

I have a passion for philosophy and writing and I love being active and moving my body. I’ve played basketball for as long as I can remember, and I also really enjoy going on hikes and love spending time with animals.

We both have experience working in and are comfortable in fast-paced environments where multitasking is required.

We always approach others with positivity and listen with an open mind.

Melina:
I have experience working with people of different ages and cultures, and I’m a strong communicator.

I’m very detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy keeping things tidy.

I’m also a creative and artistic person who loves sharing new ideas with others.

I hold a blue belt in Kenjutsu, the Japanese martial art of the sword. Along with being a student, I’ve also taught students at lower belt levels.

As someone who has owned pets for most of my life, I’m comfortable with many types of animals. Most of my experience is with indoor cats, but I also have some experience caring for small dogs.

Toke:
I would describe myself as a calm person with a good ability to cope with both stress and strong emotions.

I’m flexible and able to work or live comfortably in a wide range of environments.

I’m very open to learning new things and skills, and I consider myself a great listener.

I also enjoy working with children and believe it would be valuable experience for my interest in teaching
