Description
Hey there! My name is Max, I'm from a small town in the north of England, my favourite colour is Teal and I really like porridge!
My Workaway story began when I was about 10 years old, when my dad and I spent some time living on a small community in southern Portugal while our house was being renovated. Ten year old me must have met travelers from almost every corner of the world. Now, 12 years on, I still have strong memories of my time there and memories of the travelers I met have stuck with me to this day.
I always told myself that one day I would go and have some adventures of my own and see where I can be of service to people who need things done.
I've never been much fussed for money; simple food, a cozy bed and good company are plenty luxury for me.
last year I spent 6 months in Canada staying with various Workaway hosts and had such a positive experience I'm now inspired to continue my journey through Europe, and perhaps beyond!

I would love to get better at speaking Portuguese. I'd also be interesting in learning other languages such as German or even Japanese. I can help with teaching English, although I have never taught English professionally.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
My dad lives off the grid in a small cottage in Portugal, as a teenager I spent allot of time there helping out with day to day tasks like chopping wood, maintaining the garden and helping with different building projects.
When I was 16 I started an apprenticeship in the UK working in manufacturing, which was a valuable learning experience, but after working there for just over 4 years I eventually decided it wasn't the path I wanted to pursue. Since then I have worked as a carpenter creating outdoor spaces for children, mostly working in schools, upgrading or building fresh play spaces.
I would say I have a relatively broad range of practical skills, I am quite used to a hard physical labour and find it quite therapeutic.
The work I enjoy the most is woodwork, whether that's building wooden structures, carving or even splitting logs - if it involves timber I'm probably going to love it! I wouldn't describe myself as "professional" I still have allot to learn, but I have a strong passion for it.
I'd really like to learn some more about forestry and tree surgery stuff, I have basic skills in this area but would love to develop my skills.
I also know a fair bit about mountain bikes and can fix most things on a bike.
