Description
My partner Nick and I are joining the workaway community as we want to get some fresh perspectives in life and explore regions in France/Europe after we just moved back from Vancouver Island. Our first goal for this spring/summer is to get our intermediate French to an expert level and look at projects that are alreday doing where our heart is: working with (rescue) animals, sustainable food production, eco-tourism, and things along those lines.
We are just completing a two month stay at a horse farm in the Loire Valley and are looking for a new host for the summer, preferably in the Rhone-Alpes or Bourgogne region.

We both are looking for work stays in France as we want to improve our French. Nick taught English as a Second Language a while ago in Japan.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Mareike's skills: Very experienced with animals (dogs, + 20 years with horses (care, mostly outdoor riding and dressage; I also had a workstay at a horse farm in France where I trained horses for distance riding and led rides with tourists), experienced and happy to do physical work such as gardening, agriculture and home improvements; core strenghts are analytical and strategic thinking (as a professional researcher and policy analyst in the environmental and public health field) if this skill set would be of any use to you :-)
Languages: English (fluent), German (fluent), Fench (intermediate)
Nick's skills: Nick has run his own B&B business on Vancouver Island for over ten years and is generally interested in helping out with business development; he just spent 2 years renovating an old house on Vancouver Island (with Mareike's help) and is great at any rennonovation work (he loves doing research on any tech stuff for technical installations, and can help - up to a certain degree - with eletrical work); he's great with computes and can fix most IT things or help with booking systems; Plus he's an animal lover and would love to work in this area. He has also been in charge of our garden on Vancouver Island.

We both have European Passports and a car. We are travelling with our two dogs. They are both very friendly, not dominant, travellers at heart and good around all animals! Oscar grew up in a B&B and as the senior, is very chilled. Leia, our youngest family addition, loves all humans! We are just staying at a farm with horses, dogs, cats and chickens, and they both get along well with everybody, join us on our tasks or do their own thing.
