Description
Hello I am Megan from New Zealand. I’m an easygoing, playful, and friendly person who loves being out in the world, staying active, and discovering new things. After three months traveling through Southeast Asia I have arrived in France, where I plan to spend the year learning the language and diving into the culture and daily life. Before this, I spent five years in the corporate world in New Zealand (in Kitchen design) and lived in London for a few years before that. Now, while I have the time and energy, I want to make the most of every opportunity—exploring, learning, meeting new people, and embracing new experiences.

I am a fluent English speaker, and this year while living in France, my goal is to develop my French from a toddlers level to being able to hold full conversations. In New Zealand, learning other languages wasn’t a strong focus, so while I took language classes in school, they didn’t stick. However, during my travels, I’ve met many people who speak multiple languages, which inspired me to really dive in and learn properly. I’ve dabbled in several Duolingo courses, but I’ve realized that to truly learn, I need to fully immerse myself. That’s why I’ve moved to France. Language is the primary way people communicate with others and themselves. By understanding a language, you can learn a lot about people, as it shapes their minds and the way they view the world. That’s something I’m excited to explore.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
From the corporate world, I’ve developed skills in project management, sales, time management, and customer service, along with experience using programs like Adobe Suite, SketchUp, Word/Excel, and various industry-specific tools like finance, CRM, and design software. I have strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, whether it’s working with people or troubleshooting technology. I’m a fast learner and work well both in a team and independently.
I grew up in a hands-on household where outdoor play and creativity were encouraged. While I didn’t wield a hammer much in the corporate world, I’ve had plenty of experience from childhood—building and making things, from toys to garden boxes. My mom takes great pride in her garden, and I’ve often helped with upkeep, pulling weeds, or getting my hands dirty. Being a New Zealader DIY is in my blood. I have renovating practice such as removing wallpaper to sanding and painting. Recently, a friend and I renovated her garage into a home gym, and it was incredibly rewarding to work out in a space I had helped create!

Autres infos...
I love getting outdoors, whether it’s going for a hike or having a picnic in the park. I enjoy running around and sports, though I’ve never been particularly talented at them! Recently, I got my PADI Open Water license, and I’ve always wanted to learn how to surf. :)
On the other side of things, I come from a tech-savvy family (except for my mom, the nurse) and have always enjoyed learning new programs. Lately, I’ve been developing my skills in Blender, a 3D modeling program—it’s the perfect creative outlet while I’m on the road. I studied Spatial Design at university, and I love applying creativity to my life—whether through making art, solving problems, or looking at things from a different perspective.
That problem-solving mindset is what kept me in kitchen design for so long—it was the perfect mix of creativity, puzzles, and meeting new people. I love using alternative thinking and technology to make life easier and more efficient. Science and technology fascinates me because there’s still so much about our world that we have yet to understand.
