Description

My name is Matt. I am a 31 year old American male currently living in South Carolina.

I'm hoping to travel for the last half of this year in pursuit of personal growth, service to others, and adventure.

I would love to volunteer in a variety of environments, including with animals, in rural settings, in service of vulnerable communities, with organizations dedicated to social and political change, in environments that could nurture my very nascent journey into meditation/mindfulness, and with artistic communities.

My previous volunteer experience has consisted of helping at animal shelters, being a camp counselor for Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (Columbia, SC), assisting with the SC Muscular Dystrophy Association's summer camp, Work Exchange trips to a South African cattle ranch and Japanese mansion-restoration, a variety of political campaigns as a Volunteer Coordinator/Field Operator/Field Staff, and volunteering as a Research Assistant for a Psychology professor at the University of South Carolina - Beaufort.

I also just concluded my first Workaway of this season, which involved helping a vegan family/community in North Carolina seeking self-sustainable and eco-friendly practices. (Work primarily involved manual labor like weeding, laying mulch, trail cutting, installing shelves, and re-organizing a shed.)
