Hi, I'm Lukas, I’m a geography student with a passion for sustainability and a great curiosity for the world. I love hiking, swimming, being out in nature and of course traveling. In my free time, I'm a student representative, I hang out with friends, sport (fitness, swimming and climbing), do some gardening, play ping pong with my siblings (I always win from my sister and lose from my brother) and make my own wine with a friend (see picture).

I'm at workaway because I want to get to know new people and hopefully get a chance to be part of their life for a month or so. I have done five workaways already, one in France on a biological farm, two in Belgium (on a biological farm and on a boat) and two in Spain (with a family and as a housesitter). These experiences and the people I have met meant a lot to me and I've learnt so much from them. They have made me adaptive, self-reliant and thoughtful (with of course still a splash of funkiness).

What I have loved most about workaway is being part of other people's lives and share work, meals and good fun. I think it's special when people invite you in and offer the opportunity to share a part of their life and I greatly appreciate it. Next year I want to study in Chile for a semester so I really want to improve my Spanish. Therefor I'm planning on traveling to Spain this august. I hope to meet local people, talk a LOT of Spanish, live out in nature for a month, learn something new and have great fun while doing all this.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

The past year I have been president of Merkator (student association for geography students) which thought me to be responsible and improved my organizational skills. I can help you organize events, promote them on social media and even know something about the legal aspects of an NGO.

I have finished my bachelors in geography, I can work with GIS programs (For those not familiar with GIS, I can make you a neat map ;) ). I'm really handy with computers, know excel, python and can help you with your website.

I have worked in a rather good restaurant for a while so I have a experience as a waiter. I have experience with tutoring and like working with children.

I have also done a lot of maintenance work during my past workaway experiences. I have worked with small chainsaws and with bush-cutters. I have done a lot of weeding, planting but also painting, masonry and basic carpentry. I really like manual work and work good and precise.
