  • Description

Hey hosts and fellow workawayers! :)

Trying to squeeze my whole self into this tiny space – not an easy feat, right? ;)
Especially for someone as chatty as me (oupsie! ;)

In Lord of the Rings, there's this saying "Not all those who wander are lost." - That's me!

    -------------------------------
    #Why the workaway?
    -------------------------------
I jumped into the world of rural development (environmental work, sustainable agriculture..) because I wanted to do something meaningful and spent 10 years immersing myself in the essence of teamwork and commitment.
I'm strong advocate for collective action over individual endeavors, firmly believe in the principle of 'sharing is multiplying.' which is why workaway makes so much sense to me. I'm eager to observe the synergy of individuals pooling their talents and resources, fostering creativity, and accomplishing remarkable feats together – that, to me, is true magic :)

I've had my share of traveling and memorable experiences... AND, of course, tribulations! :) I'm the kind of person who would buy a motorbike in Vietnam for a big road trip without knowing how to drive, fall several times but never give up on smiling, and be rewarded by meeting the Hmong in the mountains, getting invited to a shamanic ceremony, and even attending a wedding.
But now, I sense a change within me: there's an urge to find purpose in my travels, especially since I'm trying to live in a more sustainable way. I genuinely want to connect with people in a more authentic way – to create more solid bonds, to blend in, become part of a family, a team, or a community. I aim to spend more time in one place, do less but do it better.

Also, I've got this itch to get my hands dirty to feel more independent and empowered by learning some DIY wizardry like carpentry, building, and renovation. That's partly why I quit my job last August to wander around, do some WWOOFing, and workaway, through different spots in France.

    -------------------
    #Who am I?#
    -------------------
As for me, I'm the perpetual morning smiley face, ready for whatever comes my way. Super curious about life and people, and I like to think I'm a thoughtful, caring, and open-minded person. I bring enthusiasm, perseverance, and a whole lot of will to the table. Some might call me a shiny, colorful personality – I'll take that as a compliment! ;)

Consider me a jack of all trades, master of none. I dive into a bit of everything – hiking, climbing, canoeing, alpinism, singing, dancing (blues, fusion, and traditional dances), board games, photography... I may not be a master, but the joy of doing many things is what fuels my happy memories with others. Let's make some great memories together! 😊

    #(Not so) Hard skills#
    -------------------------------
    1. Good background in agriculture:
Ranging from animals' caring and milking (cows and sheep) to gardening (weeding, seeding, planting...) and building fences, from participating in food production, such as making jams, yogurts, and cheese to enlarging paths (creating raised beds for planting red fruits following permaculture principles), from oyster farming (harvest, shucking, bag repair...) to seaweed farming (processing, order picking)..

    2. Hospitality and customer service:
I have worked in various settings, from being a waitress and housekeeper in an inn to handling reception and night services in a 4-star apartment complex in the Alps, to being a multi-task employee in a fast-food (cashier, inventory, cleaning...) and in a school canteen (mostly serving and cleaning). What appeals to me the most is the opportunity for human interaction and assisting customers in creating memorable experiences!

    3. Digital skills:
While not an expert, my skills range from collaborative tools to participatory tools, editing tools, emailing tools... which I've been I might know all of the softwares and websites, but I can learn quickly.

    4. Cooking:
While studying in the United States, I resided in a co-op with 26 individuals, taking on the role of a cook for the household. Cooking for 26 people twice a month honed my ability to prepare meals for large groups. I've realized for some time that I love cooking for people and that it's at the same time relaxing and exciting as it helps me express part of my creativity. I love cooking and I spend a lot of time doing so :)

    5. Photography and editing

    6. Basic handy work so far, but very willing to develop these skills : building, carpentry,...

    7. Looking after children: babysitting for several years including my own 5 nieces and nephews :)

    -------------------
    1. Great interpersonal skills:
I'm a team player! I deeply value connection, reflecting in my ability to easily engage AND collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds. Having lived, studied, and worked internationally, I swiftly adapt to various environments. Most of my professional experiences have been distinctly people-oriented.

    2. Ability to learn new things/fast learner/self-taught person:
As an inherently curious and hard-working individual, I embrace continuous learning. I'm proactive when it comes to acquiring new skills and knowledge, whether by seeking advice, consulting a book, exploring online resources...

    3. Communication, mediation and good listening skills:
I received training in public consultation, specializing in facilitating communication between individuals from diverse backgrounds. My role involved creating a benevolent, gentle, and respectful environment where people could express themselves, fostering understanding between different perspectives. Active listening plays a big role in these interactions!

    4. Ability to teach people:
Due to my experiences with an NGO (in community education) and a resource center, I'm very sensitive to accessible education. Tasked with creating resources and facilitating workshops, I learned to convey information effectively. I've also got the chance to be an English and dance teacher, which helped me further develop my ability to teach in an engaging and instructive manner.

    5. Swift adaptability to new environment/people/ways of living/practices:
Having lived in numerous places and countries and worked in various environments with many different people, I'm good at quickly assimilating and integrating into new situations!

    6. Organization:
As a coordinator and chief project officer for years, I learnt how to conduct meetings, organise events, manage a budget, handle administrative stuffs.

    7. Languages: I am fluent in English and French is my mother tongue. Those are languages I can teach. Basic Spanish
