My Name is Lena, I am 24 years old and just finished my bachelors degree in geography.
As you are reading my workaway account I am sure you can imagine that traveling is an important part in my life - I love meeting new people and their stories, I am curious about everything and enthusiastic about most of my opportunities and experiences. Beeing a geography student, I get excieted about many details and always try to take in my surroundings.
Sustainability and climate change are topics close to my heart. I’m especially interested in NGOs and sustainable projects, where I feel my background in geography really helps me contribute. I enjoy learning about the world’s natural processes and love working with environmental data.
Some adventure is welcome all the time, but the most im portant point for me are encounters with other people, real encounters that have some meaning and not all the time the same dialogs in the same hostels.

I would love to practice any language I have already started learning! Living in central Germany, I rarely encounter people speaking languages other than German or English, so I would really appreciate the opportunity to improve. Usually, I try to learn some phrases in the countries I travel to — whether it’s Italy or Bosnia and Herzegovina :) It would be great to continue and expand those phrases, especially if I stay for a while. I have already taught some people German and English, although I’m far from being a professional teacher :) If you want, I can teach you some phrases, and we can practice whatever you like.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have a green thumb and enjoy gardening, which allows me to connect with nature in a hands-on way. Back in Germany, I worked in environmental education, where I helped raise awareness about sustainability and nature conservation among different groups. Additionally, I supported a school in Costa Rica, gaining valuable experience in an international and multicultural setting.
On the technical side, I am skilled in analyzing satellite imagery and conducting various environmental assessments. My background in geography has equipped me with the ability to interpret spatial data and understand complex environmental processes.
I am reliable, eager to learn, and happy to contribute both practical and analytical skills to any project. Whether it’s working outdoors or assisting with research tasks, I am motivated to help and grow.

I know a lot of board games and, having participated in and led several seminars, I’m familiar with games suitable for larger groups as well. I enjoy bringing people together through fun and engaging activities.
Last summer, I started slacklining, which quickly became one of my favorite outdoor hobbies. I also love hiking and generally spending time outside. I’m an active person and like to keep busy, especially when I’m around others.
