Hi everyone!

We are Nejc and Lara, a couple from a tiny country of Slovenia, located in Central Europe. We are very open-minded and adventurous people, that like to travel either together or separately with friends. Nejc is a mechanical engineer and is working in a family-owned company and Lara is a biologist, that is about to receive her Masters degree in Molecular Biosciences, from Utrecht University. Currently Lara lives in the Netherlands and Nejc in Slovenia, and in April and May of 2024 we are planing to go on a big trip together to Central and South America, which was always a great wish! At the top on our list are Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador and Galapagos, and Argentina. We shall see where the road takes us in the next months... :)

We have never done a workaway before, but we have a lot of skills and knowledge that could contribute to small communities around the world and we would be super happy and humbled to get this opportunity. Particularly, we are passionate about nature conservation and animals, and we want to help make a change in this world. Lara has already been a volunteer in 2020, when she went for one month to La Gamba, Costa Rica to learn about tropical ecology, reforestation and biological corridors, and teach locals of alternative agronomical practices. She sings and plays piano, and she can speak 5 languages and understands more then 7! It has been a while since she has actively spoken spanish, so she would really like to renew her knowledge and help locals learn english.

Nejc is a very technically skilled person and loves a great challenge. We both come from small villages, where our grandmas taught us how to work in a garden and take care of animals (we have chickens!!). Nejc is super good at sports, and he was a football player (goalkeeper) for 15 years. He plays tennis, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, he is skiing and also loves water sports. We both love gastronomy and Nejc especially is a very good cook! We also own a miniature poodle named Peggy and she absolutely makes every day better. We take her with us when we go camping and hiking around Slovenia (which is a stunning country btw, let us know if you visit anytime). Opposite of Lara, Nejc is not the best in languages but has so many other skills, that we end up complementing each other well and make a great team.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Both: Can easily adapt, independent, work in teams, communicate effectively, like to teach others and be taught, respectful, interested in endogenous cultures, open-minded, passionate.

Lara: Biology knowledge (ecology, sustainability), proficient in 5 languages, cooking/baking, babysitting, animal care, house chores and gardening, photography, music and sports.

Nejc: Tehnical skills, wood and metal processing, hand-crafts and DIY projects, farming, cooking, house chores, animal care, sports.
