Description
We are Anouck (34), Ivo (35), Jonah (3) and James (6, dog). Four years ago we left the Netherlands in our van to travel slowly and explore Europe in order to find a place close to nature to settle down. That plan changed immediately after we left, because we found out Anouck was pregnant. That led us to Spain, where we lived on an olive finca for the past 3 years. On that finca we built our own house, took care of the olive trees and learned a lot about living off-grid. Now the time has come for us to continue our journey, explore more places, meet more people and search for a different place.
Our main focus is living closer to nature. Although our home in Catalunya is in the campo, we are surrounded by olive trees that are planted in rows, and the dry climate makes it very difficult for plants and trees to grow. So we seek more wildness! The stronger the natural presence of a place, the better. Luxury and comfort are of little importance.
We are relaxed and easy-going people. We try to live deliberately and intentionally. We read a lot, try to internalize what we learn and put that into practise in order to live in closer harmony with nature. We love philosophical conversations and are open to other ideas, opinions and worldviews. Although we have our opinions about what it means to lead a balanced and harmonious life, we never try to convince or convert people to our beliefs. We very much appreciate the same quality in others, because everybody knows what it is like to be with someone who is trying to convince you of his or her truth when that doesn't resonate. We rather try to develop and cherish what we have in common with others than argue about our
differences :)
We both study and work. Anouck is studying to become an art therapist and Ivo is following a course in sound healing, while already giving sound journeys and guided meditations. We carry tons of materials for arts and crafts and have many instruments, like Tibetan singing bowls, shamanic drums, a handpan, and much more! Our son Jonah is a bright and happy kid who loves to play, socialize and interact. He is always up for an adventure, loves animals, ball games, dancing, biking and hiking. James is a dog that will quickly find a way to your heart. He is a big cuddler, is easy with others dogs (also with dominant ones) and is used to cats, chickens, goats et cetera.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
We have a wide variety of skills, which are a combination of what we learned living off-grid, what we already knew and what we try to develop ourselves in. Below you'll find a short description of the skills of each person.
Anouck
- I am a crafty, resourceful and creative person. I have the ability to ‘create something out of nothing’ as we say in Dutch, and I love making spaces beautiful with whatever materials are available.
- I am good at caring for others, including children and animals. I am patient and empathetic and don’t mind shoveling shit and getting dirty.
- I have some basic construction skills, and would love to improve them. In the past I have worked with cob and wood and I would love to learn more about building with natural materials.
- I’ve learned a thing or two about pruning olive trees while living in an olive grove. I also have some gardening skills, and would love to hone them, especially when it comes to building a veggie garden.
- I am currently studying to become an art therapist and I love making art and doing crafts together. If you are interested, I could teach you about some different types of art materials and how to use them, and show you some art techniques for self expression.
Ivo
- I see myself as a jack-of-all-trades. What drives me is the curiosity to learn new things and develop my skills. I was trained as a music teacher and now I work as an editor for books and I give sound journeys and meditation sessions. I love to use these skills for community building and am very open to organize meditation sessions, sound healing sessions et cetera. I play the piano well, play some guitar and also carry (semi-professional) recording devices. So if that's something you are interested in, I might be able to help you.
- I have some decent building skills, although I am no professional. We built our own kitchen and porch (35 m2 in total) from scratch, so I have some knowledge of making foundations, bricklaying, tiling, and making simple wooden structures, for example for a toilet, shed or bathroom.
- In Catalunya we had 600 olive trees and I followed some courses in natural ways to prune them.
- A strength of mine is to improvise with the things that are available. Living off-grid often means having to do a job with limited resources, and I love thinking about those problems, recycling materials and finding original solutions.
