Hello! We’re Jomanda and Pascal
We’re a multicultural couple brought together by the most unexpected place, of course none other than the vast and sunny lands of Australia in 2023. We are back to complete our 179 days (the longer version of 88 days) and trying to make Australia our new home
About Jomanda:
Born and raised in Malaysia with Chinese and Indian parents. My journey into international living began in 2019 when I became an exchange student in the UK. I fell in love with Britain, but sadly had to return home due to COVID. I graduated with a degree in International Communications with Japanese in 2021 and was fortunate to begin my corporate career even before graduation, working with Japanese and HK clients and markets.
Since 2022, I’ve taken a more hands-on path. I lived in Japan volunteering on farms, in kindergartens, and with sustainability-focused NGOs. I also taught English to children in Bali and Lombok through volunteer programs. These experiences, especially through Workaway, gave me a deeper appreciation for local cultures, community values, and slow living.
In 2024, life took a very interesting turn. I juggled between spending time with my ailing grandmother, and eventually moved to Austria. Besides joining Pascal, I’ve been diving into German (yes, it’s quite the challenge!) and embracing European life.
About Pascal
Pascal was born in France and raised in Austria — he speaks fluent German and French, and yes, his English is excellent (otherwise our relationship wouldn’t survive! 😄). He served in the military in 2019, and later began an IT degree but realized it wasn’t his path. He worked in sales, but it was during his time in Australia, working on cattle farms and in construction, that he found his passion for electricity.
He returned to Austria in 2023 and is currently working toward becoming a certified electrician. His business diploma from 2018 has helped him balance both the technical and entrepreneurial sides of the trade.
We both find joy in simple, honest work, meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and giving back to communities that open their doors to us. Whether it’s helping out on a farm, cooking, teaching, repairing, or just sharing stories over a good meal — we’re happiest when we feel part of something meaningful.
Jomanda has done Workaway multiple times and is excited to introduce Pascal to this unique way of traveling and connecting with people. We truly believe that volunteering is the most genuine way to understand a place, not just through its landmarks, but through its people, rhythms, and daily life.Centres d’intérêt

During my university days, I've worked a few part time jobs in administration, sales, marketing and events to fund my travels. I've experienced teaching kids Mandarin when I was in Malaysia throughout the summer of 2019. I've also recently taught English in Bali this summer for three weeks after leaving my full time job as a data processing specialist and banking. I do take some pictures (ig: trippinoncloud). I also have done organic vegetable farm in Japan and animal farm in Australia. I was also an aupair in australia and worked in cafes. I can cook quite a few classic Asian delicacy, catered to non spicy too :)
Pascal has done electrician, construction and cattle farms. He's a very hands on person, he can sew fix plumbings etc. He grew up helping his late grandparents maintaining their garden and mowing the lawnÂge

Autres infos...
I love traveling, hiking and anything outdoors. I've also recently got my scuba diving license. I've learned how to surf in Bali (it's not good enough yet). Pascal is a mountain boy, he sprints to the top of the mountain. He also played football or else he would disappoint his French ancestors
