Description

New to Workaway, wanting to learn about homesteading and sustainability. There’s nothing I won’t try especially, when it comes to food. I consider myself a crafty person as I have the delusion I can make anything with my own hands. Any recipes I like from a restaurant, I will try to recreate. I’m currently looking to disconnect a little in order to focus on myself and my art.

My number one dream is to one day own a homestead of my own, living off-grid with a small family or even a community of loved ones. I want to know what’s it’s like to work with Mother Nature, living off the land and reducing my waste.

New obsession: pet arthropods. I have a bunch of isopods and millipedes that I love to look after and observe just for fun. I often take hikes to collect their food and other natural enrichment for them. They’re the cutest thing next to my cat, Zuko.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’ve done a few sustainability projects myself through school. One summer getting to work on in off-grid plantation in Navajo nation; we tented in the dessert, had an outhouse, helped tend to a corn and squash field, and helped built a wall using rocks we’ve collected. Another summer I was blessed enough to be able to go to Argentina, helping at a school of Spanish speaking elementary school students, making eco bricks with single use plastic and building foundations by layering clay we collected.
Plant hobbyist who works at cannabis dispensary.

I have experience as a janitor so I’m comfortable working heavy machinery even if they’re new to me. Been a traveling maid also so I’m used to putting in hours of elbow grease in order to make spaces clean and sanitary. Both these jobs through the more trying times of Covid. On top of that I have years of experience in customer service so I know the in and outs of cash handling, filling orders, and always having a positive attitude no matter how strenuous the day might be.

I’m a very artsy person; I’ve painted murals, painted with watercolor, done ceramics, made crochet clothes, jewelry, and my new friend, the iPad for digital drawings.

I soak up information like a sponge and I’m very hard working. Also I’ve been put in some pretty rough living conditions so nothing really disturbs me. I always have a good attitude and I’m difficult to bother.

Being off grid and living mostly off land of my own is my personal, dream.

I feel like though I don’t have much experience, I have a natural fascination with nature. While caring for my plants and roly-pollies, I have nurtured my own relationship with the natural world and am eager to strengthen that further.
