Hello :) My name is Jimin Song and I’m 23 years old!

My main characteristics are: 1) being super positive about everything, 2) enjoying spending time with others, and 3) loving outdoor activities. My hobbies are hiking and cycling! I also really enjoy trying new things! For example, last month I tried surfing and windsurfing for the first time in my life! :)

Now, I'm a senior in college with just one semester left before graduation. In Korea, many people see working hard, getting into a good university, and securing a great career as the only path in life, and I used to think that way too. However, my perspective changed a lot during a semester abroad in Singapore as an exchange student. I realized that there are many different ways and opportunities in life beyond what I had been taught. That's why I'm eager to explore different lifestyles and discover what suits me best, which led me to join workaway.

I have two main interests. First, I'm passionate about 'family life'. Currently, I live with my parents and one younger sister. In the future, around my 30s, I hope to marry and have two children. While studying and my career are important to me, my top priority is a happy and fulfilling family life. That's why I'm keen to experience the lives of families around the world through workaway, especially those with children!

Secondly, I'm interested in 'sustainable living'. I majored in 'Forest Environmental Science' in college, and I plan to pursue a career related to sustainable finance, ESG, SDGs, etc. Unfortunately, I've only studied sustainability in theory so far, which leaves me wanting to experience it more practically. That's why I'm eager to experience sustainability in practice. I really want to live a life that's in harmony with nature and animals, and that minimizes harm to the environment.

I absolutely love studying languages!! (Though I'm not sure whether I’m talented or not lol) Throughout my life, I've studied English, Chinese, Spanish, and Japanese just for fun! Now, I can speak Korean fluently, English at an intermediate high level, and Chinese a little bit! If you'd like, I can teach you Korean to the best of my ability. Besides teaching, I also have a strong passion for learning languages!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have five main skills:

1. Physical work: While I don't have much experience in building/gardening tasks, I'm confident that I can contribute energetically to your community. I've had some physically demanding experiences, like spending hours cutting grass for scientific research on hot summer afternoons and climbing mountains for hours. These experiences have taught me patience and determination.

2. Playing with kids: I have a younger sister who is under 3 years old, so I've been taking care of her since she was young. I really enjoy playing with children. I'm great at initiating conversations with kids, asking questions, and showing enthusiastic reactions! For example, during my exchange student period last year, my roommate's cousins (around 3-7 years old) enjoyed playing with me so much that they didn't want me to leave at the end, saying, "Don't go home, Jimin. Let's keep playing with us!"

3. Tutoring: I worked as a private tutor in Korea for 3 years. I taught a total of 4 students, ranging from 11 to 15 years old, primarily in mathematics. With my experience as a teacher, I can help children with homework and studying!

4. Computer work: I participated in an internship program in Korea for 1.5 years. Most of my duties involved being a research assistant, so I’m used to computer work. I handle repetitive tasks on the computer quickly and without getting bored! If there's any work that needs to be done on a computer, I’ll help you anything what you want.

5. Other experiences: I've also worked as a mascot performer, sold at flea markets, and operated event booths in BTS exhibition. I'm active and not afraid of physical work, so I can handle any task that requires physical effort!
