Hi! We’re Harry and Izzy, a couple from the UK heading to Japan this September for a working holiday. We’re really excited to travel the country, meet new people, and experience everyday life in Japan.

A little bit about us:

Harry works as a freelance video producer and photographer, and has also taught dance and helped run marketing at a secondary school. Izzy’s been working as a medical secretary in London and has a background and degree in Drama. At University Izzy specialised in Theatre in Education and so loves working with children. Whilst never living there herself, Izzy's parents lived and worked in Tokyo for 5 years and her brother was born there, and therefore Japanese food, culture and tradition has been an integral part of her upbringing.

We’ve both spent time working in our family’s brewery taproom, serving food and drinks, and we absolutely love cooking—especially trying new recipes and learning more about Japanese food and culture. We both love snowsports and most notably, Izzy worked as a chalet host in Austria for 6 months and is competent in cooking, cleaning, guest relations and managing all aspects of hospitality. We’ve travelled around New Zealand in a campervan and recently visited South Korea and Australia, and now we’re ready for our next adventure in Japan.

We’ve been learning Japanese for a few months and are keen to keep improving as we travel. Between us, we’re happy to help with cooking, childcare, hospitality, creative projects, or just lending a hand wherever it’s needed. Harry’s into rock climbing and DIY, and Izzy enjoys crafts, theatre, and spending time with kids. We both love spending time outdoors, playing board games (Codenames and Ticket to Ride are favourites), and meeting new people. We’re friendly, easy-going, and always up for learning something new—so if you think we’d be a good fit for your place, we’d love to hear from you!

We are both interested in learning Japanese to be able to speak with locals and respect their ways. Harry has already begun his learning through reading and online resources but wishes to strengthen his studies by being surrounded by the language.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Hospitality & Customer Service:
We’ve both worked regularly in the taproom of our family-run brewery, serving food and drinks and welcoming guests. We’re comfortable interacting with people, keeping spaces clean and organised, and supporting the smooth running of service.

Creative & Digital Media Skills:
Harry is a professional in video production, photography, and digital storytelling. He has experience creating promotional material, running social media accounts, and designing content for schools, businesses, and events. He’s happy to lend his creative skills to any projects that might benefit from a visual boost. You can find his work here: www.hedigital.co.uk

Education & Childcare:
Izzy has a 1st Class degree in Drama, with a focus on Theatre In Education. She’s calm, creative, and great at engaging children in activities that are fun and supportive. Harry has a 1st Class degree in Maths and Physics. He also taught extracurricular dance, drama and musical theatre to students aged 11–18 and enjoys mentoring and working with young people.

DIY & Hands-On Skills:
Harry is passionate about DIY and problem-solving. He enjoys working on his 25 year old Mazda Roadster, learning how the car works and maintaining it himself. He’s confident using tools, picking up new skills quickly, and helping with physical tasks like repairs, building, or gardening.

Above all, we’re adaptable, hard-working, and always keen to learn. Whether it’s helping around the house, working with children, cooking meals, or creating digital content, we’re happy to pitch in wherever needed.

Izzy has always loved Japan as her parents lived in Tokyo for 5 years and raised her brother before moving back to the UK. Harry hasn't visited Japan and is very excited to create new stories and experiences.

Hobbies/Interests
In our spare time, we both love being outdoors whether it’s going for walks, hiking, or exploring new places. Harry enjoys rock climbing and is excited to discover Japan’s outdoor climbing spots and bouldering gyms.

We both enjoy cooking and have a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. We’re keen to learn traditional cooking techniques and recipes during our stay, and we’re also happy to share dishes and ideas from other cultures we love, including European and Asian cooking.

We enjoy connecting with people through food, games, and good conversation, and we’re always open to new experiences and learning opportunities.
