Currently at university in London- any workawayers come say hi!

Hiya my name is Isla and I am in my third year of studying veterinary medicine in London. During this last year I took an extra year to study conservation veterinary medicine and it really inspired me to work more with wild animals and the environment, so I would love to find workaways related to this. I feel very passionate about the environment and nature and this is where I want to focus my energy.

I took a year out after school and worked in various jobs including as a waitress, horse groom and working at a farm growing food for a food bank to save money.Then I went out to central America for 5 moths and had some incredible times travelling and through workaway experiences ! Now in the holidays I enjoy doing workaways and travelling as much as possible…

I am very hard working and have lots of experience working at farms (sheep, dairy, chicken, vegetable produce) and gardening and will always give all my energy into learning and being part of a new team. I have experienced many different workaways from permaculture farms to hostels and I am committed to the concept of workaway as a way to travel and work. I love harvesting and cooking with fresh food (surely everyone does too!).

I am a very open minded sociable person who loves staying active with outdoor activities like hiking, running, climbing, cold water swimming and horse riding. While I love meeting new people, I also enjoy quiet time reading, painting or practicing yoga.

After my trip to central America I was also inspired to learn spanish so the last few workaways I have gone to have been in non- english speaking workdays in Spain. However, I still have a long way to go so am really looking for somewhere where I can practice.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Gardening on a permaculture farm- planting, weeding, clearing and learning more about permaculture system. Painting- worked with a painter decorator
Cleaning- worked as part of housekeeping at a hotel and at a private house
Hospitality- worked as a waitress, serving and on the bar
Physical labour- digging a pond, clearing and putting up new fences (wood and electric)
Child care- creative play and tutoring
Animal care- extensive knowledge on horses and experience with dogs, sheep, pigs and cows
Science! I have worked at a university doing research into tick borne disease! I would love to get more field work experience too !

  When I am alone I cook vegan food, but otherwise I am vegetarian. However, sometimes I eat meat if it is ethically sources and part of a group meal... :)
