Bonjour, Hello, Buenos dias !, Hello there, I am a very youthful and energetic 60 something who has been teaching French studies in HE but retired in September 2024. I traveled solo in South East Asia from mid-November 2024 to the third week of January 2025 . I am looking for a volunteering placement (3-6 weeks ) in Spain from October until mid-November and also Spring 2026.
I have been living in the UK for + 40 years. I have an unusual background (done all kind of jobs...) but I went back to university as a mature student in my late 30's, got a PhD in literature and started working in Higher education. I have a very good sense of humour, I am versatile, open and very independent, I get on well with people of any ages and backgrounds. I like traveling on my own, walking and Nordic walking, contemporary art, culture and languages, I am curious about life and people. I am a well-travelled vegetarian. I speak French and English fluently and have a B2/C1 = higher intermediate (nivel superior Cervantes Institute) in Spanish. I have visited Spain a lot over the years, one of my last visit was April 2024, attending a conference in Salamanca. I spent 3 months (October to December 2022) volunteering in an eco-tourism hotel in Palamos, Catalunya I was working a few hours a day helping around, reception, teaching, serving, with a bit of decorating and gardening thrown in. I consolidated my Spanish, visited the area , made new friends and caught up with old ones. I also did a one week volunteering /language exchange over Easter 2023 near Barcelona and spent October 2024 volunteering a Hostal Volver , in Puerto de Mogan, Gran Canarias. Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I can teach French and English, which I speak and write both to native standard (I am French but have lived in the UK for over 30 years). As a younger person, I have worked in hospitality extensively, from bar work, to waitressing to reception and I am good with people and a good communicator, I am patient and have a good sense of humour. I am good at helping with food (something that I enjoy) as long as it is vegetarian. I am a good organiser, I am resourceful, hard-working, disciplined, reliable and work well in a team. I am used to a multicultural environment having worked in languages for many years and I get on well with young people, I am very used to students.
