  • Description

    Hello!
My name is Belle I am 24, a qualified nurse and have 2 months free before my next job starts so thought it would be a brilliant opportunity to see a bit more of the world.

I consider myself as an open minded, creative and a social person who loves to be outdoors and be surrounded by inspiring people and places. I'm enthusiastic, hardworking and enjoy new challenges. I'm also interested in people's stories.

Workaway, is to me, a good way to help others out, see new cultures and learn more skills. I'm always up for trying something new!

This world is something utterly extraordinary and I wish to explore and marvel at as much of it as I can. I have travelled to many countries around the world as a tourist, but now I am looking to experience a country more as a local and invested person.

I hope to do something worthwhile and contribute to a dream. I want to meet people who are passionate about what they are doing. Please don't hesitate to send me a message :)

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am really keen to learn more about agriculture and sustainable living. I'm a hard worker who likes to get her hands dirty, and loves challenges. As a nurse I am used to being reliable and trustworthy as well as working effectively communicating and working within large teams. My biggest asset is that I am a fast learner and that I am willing to help with anything!

    Basic DIY and construction work:
I am reasonably practical and have renovated the house I currently live in. Specific jobs I have already done include tiling, laying wood flooring, building pallet benches, re-pointing brickwork, replacing taps, replacing shower unit, building a patio, grouting, installing ceiling coving, panelling a bath, sewing curtains, stripping wallpaper, painting, sanding and refinishing a wooden tables. Power tools I am familiar with: mouse sander, belt sander, circular saw and angle grinders.

    Agricultural work:
I spent 2 years living on a small holding, worked on 2 farms and currently volunteer at a local permaculture initiative. This encompassed a wide range of jobs including sorting eggs, sowing seeds, staking apple trees, pruning trees, weeding, cooking for groups, harvesting, pickling and preserving produce.

    Animals:
I have worked three months as a shepherdess during the lambing season. Wide range of duties including feeding lambs, feeding ewes and helping with birthing. This required a high level of physical fitness to catch ewes and carry feed. I also developed experience cleaning agricultural equipment including tractors, quad bikes, power washers, muck spreaders etc.

Feeding lambs required an ability to work independently and with a high attention to detail, noticing declining health then assessing, planning and implementing a treatment over a large herd of 900 ewes. Treatment of these lambs involved stomach tube feeding, injecting antibiotics, fostering, suckling and removing lambs to pet pens.

    Overall:
I'm strong and I have muscles to carry/build things. I also know how to use my hands or tools if it's required. 💪
I'm versatile, curious and resourceful, and I love to learn new things !
Moreover, if I can help you with whatever you need, i'll do it !

  • Autres infos...

I love playing chess...I think im ok at it!!...but any board games are fun. I have lots of hobbies including seaweed printing, slack lining and reading. I spent two years on a small holding with sheep, chickens, ducks, dogs and a turkey. They had an orchard and vegetable garden. This has given me a skill set which is helpful in a workaway. I can see myself at some point in the future having a lifestyle like this. Hence I am curious to learn as much as I can about gardening, farming and house building. Sustainable living is increasingly important in our society and i want to develop my knowledge about alternative living. Food was really important growing up and cooking for groups of people has always given me a lot of joy. I like to be around people and be an active part of communities. I love to dance and to share happiness with others.
