Currently in Kerela India. Looking to get involved with sustainable farming, working at home stays / hostels and helping out with renovation / DIY projects.

Description

Hi I'm Innes, I was born in Scotland but grew up in the south of England. I love to travel and learn about new cultures.

My partner Susie (linked to my profile) and I have been travelling / living abroad for the last 2 years. We travelled in Central America for 6 months and spent 1.5 years living in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We are now travelling through India and Nepal from January - June and plan to visit Spain during June and July.

I love spending my time outdoors doing activities such as photography, hiking, snowboarding and surfing. I love animals, growing up I had 2 beautiful golden retrieves named Skye and Struie. They are sadly no longer around. So I am always keen to be involved at Workaway's with any animals. I love taking dogs for walks and I am confident around farm animals too!

I enjoy being in social settings where I am able to learn new things about people and culture. I have experienced Workaway in both Canada and India, all of which have been amazing experiences with our various hosts. Meeting interesting people and learning about self-sustainable farming and permaculture on the Gulf Islands, Kelowna and organic farming In India.

I have a degree in Marketing and Communiciations and I have a few years work experience. I would be happy to share any knowledge I have and help with marketing where I can.

I am very keen to learn more about all cultures and countries and expand my knowledge on traditional farming methods, how people live in other countries and cultural practices.

Workaway seems to be the perfect platform to do everything I enjoy and learn new things about exciting and rich cultures, continue to learn languages such as Spanish & Hindi, whilst meeting like minded people along the way!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a confident and sociable person with great people skills. I would class myself as a fit and healthy individual who would happily work with hands on jobs. In previous Workaway experiences, I gained skills in painting, gardening, wood chopping and collecting, fence building and general labour / DIY tasks. I am able to lift heavy objects and help with physically demanding tasks.

I have worked in a variety of industries throughout my career. I have also picked up a lot of valuable skills through travelling. For example, extreme sport photography, environmental conservation, volunteering, hospitality, general labour, driving SUV's / large trucks, culinary skills, marketing and telecommunications. This range of experience has enabled me to develop a diverse skill set and communicate and relate to people from all walks of life.

After working as a Cook in Canada, I am confident in the kitchen and would love to help out with any cooking duties!

My work in environmental conservation focused on protecting The Great Lakes from invasive species, and protecting various pacific Salmon species, which are native to North America. This has given me a great insight into agricultural and river systems and the importance of conservation and protection of biodiversity.

Over the past year and a half I have been getting more and more interested in photography, both film and digital. I worked as an extreme sport photographer for a white water rafting company and also spent a lot of my free time taking photos and editing them in Adobe Lightroom. Therefore, I have a bit of knowledge with cameras and editing, and I would be happy to share what I know.

During the pandemic I became very interested in collecting and caring for a large number of house plants. I thoroughly enjoy looking after them and making sure they thrive. It would be great be involved with any work related to the care and growth of plants, both indoor and out!

Throughout my time spent in South and Central America I have picked up some knowledge of the Spanish language and expanding my vocabulary through speaking with locals / travelers. I also completed a week long Spanish course in Guatemala, which has helped me a lot in my learning journey! I am keen to learn more Spanish and Hindi and feel that being involved with Workaway whilst travelling would be a great way to learn more about Indian and Spanish language and culture.

Autres infos...

In addition to my interests listed previously, i love to listen to music of almost all genres. Throughout my time at university I was involved with running a few events at night clubs across Bristol with my friends, i also performed as a DJ at some of these events.

I also enjoy weightlifting and going to the gym. I would love to get into rock climbing / bouldering whilst in Canada as I believe it would be a great place to do so, and a great way to see the beautiful nature Canada has to offer.
