Description

My name is Hayley, I am a 22 year old from Dublin, Ireland. I am new to Workaway but not new to work exchange. In September 2025 I did wwoofing on farms in Italy for 3 months where I travelled from Puglia to Vasto, Ancona, Jesi, Tuscany and Milan. I learned a good amount of Italian (definitely not perfect at all but I try) and I am of course fluent in English. I have had jobs babysitting so I am good with children and I have a first class honours degree in Biology. I have lots of work experience in hospitals, retail, farms and in restaurants. I am reliable and independent and I love to play football, go to the gym, listen to music and discover new places and meet new people. I enjoy working around children and playing fun games with them.

I am good with children and people since I work with the public on a daily basis and have had a babysitting job before. I am strong and active and I am good at teaching English and learning Italian through conversations. I can cook, clean and I am neat and quiet! I am adaptable and can help with unplanned tasks.

Hayley has been a beautiful and such a charming girl over her stay in my home: she really get used to the way of life very quickly and the different age didn't matter.

Hayley arrived by herself with a great smile after a long trip and the smile was always ready to flourish during her whole sojourn, in every opportunity, from working hard in a wild garden to playing various board games with the team and her friend Meghan. It was a pleasure to host her!

I was supposed to stay with Brigitte for 3 weeks and I left after 6 days. It started off fine, I was staying in a nice cabin and the house was down below where the bathroom and kitchen was. The first day of work was ok, since I have done previous workaways on farms and also worked on organic farms under wwoof I was fine with whatever work we had … read more to do, however I did notice that there was quite bit of micromanaging and passive aggressive comments made to me and another workawayer which I thought nothing of, but I soon began to notice that these comments were made everyday regardless of if we were working or not. We were told that we were doing the work incorrectly when we were doing exactly what we were told to do. The real issue of my stay was the cleanliness in the communal areas particularly in the bathrooms and in the kitchen. The sink and toilet were both extremely dirty when I arrived and they stayed that way throughout my stay, this thought was shared by the other workawayers and by members of the family also staying there. Apart from the issue with the cleanliness in the bathroom, there was a bin which all toilet paper had to go into (since you cannot flush toilet paper due to the septic tank). The use of the bin was fine but the problem was that the bin was basically full upon my arrival and was not emptied until the day before my exit and the smell was very bad each time you needed to use the bathroom or take a shower. It did not feel pleasant to stay here and in my time there were 2 other workawayers who left #redacted#. The extended family of the host was staying there and we noticed that rude comments were being made towards workawayers at the dinner table regarding various different things which I won't repeat, however it felt as though we were being humiliated a lot of the time even when we hadn't done or said anything. For example I was scolded for taking pesto out of the fridge, not refilling the coffee when there was none left in the house and for using the washing machine on a setting for 1 hour as opposed to 15 minutes. The problem was that it was not communicated how anything worked in the house and we were not given any instructions upon our arrival so we were just scolded for what felt like everything we did. Another thing is that if you do not have a car you must trek up and down the mountain everyday which takes around 1 hour which is something to note. It does not feel nice to leave a negative review however I expected to fit in with the family but ended up having to fly home in part due to my fathers illness but mostly due to the unpleasant nature of my stay. Brigitte does have a lovely pool and nice view of the Roquebrune castle. I don't meant to be rude in my review however I wish I had saw a negative review before I came here as it tainted my whole trip in France, I am very easygoing but it was difficult to stay here.
