Hello,

My name is Sophie and I'm from Switzerland. I started this trip with my friend Elena in July 2023. After several years working as an occupational therapist, we wanted to travel from Alaska to Argentina, to learn as much as possible and open our eyes to the world, other cultures and other ways of life.

For me, this trip is a way of learning as much as possible about permaculture, bio-construction and rehabilitation with animals, as well as community life, with the aim of one day being able to create my own project in line with my values, in the permaculture philosophy.

I'm a committed, smiling, hard-working person who's not afraid of using force or getting my hands dirty (such as chopping wood with an axe, using a machete or making compost...) I enjoy physical and manual activity and I'm in good physical condition.

I also like taking the time to chat, getting to know people and their stories. I speak French, English and German and I already understand Spanish well. I also enjoy hiking, writing, painting and drawing, as well as meditation and animals.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Gardening: My focus is to improve as much as I can my skills and learning more about the philosophy of permaculture to be able to create my own project one day. I helped in a farm of permaculture during several months, learning about the associations of the plants, the organisation of the place, managing water, doing compost and lombriccompost.

Construction: I like to work with my hands. I already helped in work away with chopping wood, install windows, build and repair boxes for animals, helping with cement, bamboo constructions, using machette. Also with my job I have to create a lot of things, so I can be creative and I'm not afraid to cut, sand, saw, glue etc. And I would love to learn more about bio-construction.

Humans : As an occupationnal therapist I know how to work with people, the importance of communication and how to created a good work atmosphere. I also have skills as therapist with children with disabilites, grown up person with mentalhealth problems and older person with neurological or mobility difficulties.


Animals: I worked with horses during the last 2 years, doing therapy with them, helping in shelter doing rehabilitions. I'm familiar with the work that is demanded with an animal as feeding, cleaning, taking care of them, giving medicine. I also know how to ride.
I also helped in shelter and farms with pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, geese, ducks, chickens, cats, dogs. I love animals and really want to keep improving my skills with rehabilitions. I would love to be able one day to open my own shelter.

With Children : When I was 15 years old I was an au-pair in a family near Zürich who had three children (3months, 1 year and half and 3 years old), my job was based on care of the three children, clean the flat and help with the food. During my studies I was helping a family with two kids, one with disability (cerebral paralysi) and his brother. They were 11 and 6 years old.
