Description

Hi guys! We are Joao and Genny, we met doing volunteering and since then we are travelling together! We love meeting new people, new places and sharing new experiences.

- Genny
As first real step into the world I didn't want to go to live in a big city and do a "fast life". What I've always liked is being in contact with nature, animals and people. l've been doing volunteer in different places and projects, doing tasks such as hostel, agroforestry, animal care, constructions, gardening, teaching children and so on. I would love to keep doing this, because I think it's a big opportunity to learn new skills, share the ones I know, help others while meeting new places and cultures. Apart from this I also have other interests and hobbies, such as crochet and knitting, painting and doing yoga. I would like to learn more about potting, natural cosmetics and photography.

After doing something that wasn't for me, in 2017 I decided to change my life and starting volunteering because I felt like I needed to.
October 2017 - May 2018, Brazil: in my first volunteer place, after one month, I became a volunteer coordinator, this was my first contact with permaculture while coordinating 15/16 volunteers at the same time. We were mainly doing bio-construction, organic gardening and in general sustainability.
May 2018 - April 2019, Perù, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina: During this different volunteering places I was mainly working with projects regarding horse therapy to children with special needs, teaching Portuguese to kids living in poor conditions, permaculture projects and organic agriculture.
May 2019 - October 2019, Brazil: Also this time I was a volunteer coordinator developing permaculture projects into the bio-construction, organic gardening and sustainability.
October 2019 - April 2022, Brazil: I had a personal project inside of the farm where I was, working with permaculture, being responsible of the expansion of projects about sustainability with a free entrance for people around, doing bio construction and commercial organic agriculture.
April 2022 - November 2022, Portugal: In the latest project I was responsible for the maintenance of animals' place, team leading of Erasmus projects into constructions and agroforestry.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

- Genny
In general I'm organized, empathic and social. I learn fast, enjoy working in team and have some communications skills, since I speak different languages, and I also love taking pictures (people say that I have a good eye!!). While volunteering, I learned how to use different tools, some bases of both conventional and bio-constructions, informations and practical work about agroforestry, doing compost, maintenance of animals and look after them, theoretical and practical knowledge of permaculture, teaching children, and more.

- Joao
I'm a very social person, I like to bring people together and work in team. I have experience in coordinating and leading groups, sharing my knowledge, working with both manual and electric tools, building with both conventional and bio-construction (such as Houses, chicken coops, schools, green roofs, lakes...), organic gardening and agroforestry, permaculture, animal care, riding horses, driving tractors. I'm empathic, I care about people and I love playing soccer!!!

Joao loves to share about his own culture, Brazilian, he loves to share the music, the food, such as feijoada and good white rice, doing caipirinhas and have a lot of fun!! Instead, Genny feels more a citizen of the world, not just from Italy, that's why she'll be a little bit insecure to share italian dishes or traditions, but loves to cook and share anyway!
