My time with Marcos & Karamjot was short but I cannot recommend them enough

I was their first Workaway since the previous Summer & they were nothing but kind, gracious & welcoming

The work was easy to do & talk about, with clear direction and flexibility
They are excellent Hosts & I look forward to visiting them again in Seville one day!

Our stay with Geraldines epts was exactly as advertised, the dogs are playful and energetic and the cat is very affectionate

The apartment is in a beautiful location on the beach and I would often watch the sunset with the dogs over the river

I had work in the city on the day we agreed to meet.
Host accused me of forcing her to operate around my time, I tried to reason with her and reach a solution but she cancelled the Exchange after one night.
It was a gross overreaction

Unfortunately, I had to ask Fabio to leave the day after he arrived, as things went really bad, wrong...
After 2 months asking me to come and"help", I decided to choose him over other 6 people who wanted to come... what a wrong idea I had!!!
As far as I know now, he agreed on an arrival date when he KNEW he had something else... so after telling… read more me he would get here by 11 am, he only got here ......... around 3 pm !!!! Didn't tell me he wasn't coming for lunch, nothing!
As he arrived, he immediately tokd me he had to go somewhere but he would come back ASAP, so I told him that I was going out for a Café nearby and he could meet me there so I could show him around (he said Yes, sure). I also said I was counting with him to lit the fire for a BBQ dinner (it's something I can't do) , and he said yes. He left his things and went away...
I sent him a message with the Café info. As he didn't answer, I waited there for about 1 hour and then wrote him that I was going back home
I could see he was reading my messages, but never cared to answer to any....
He didn't care to let me know he wasn't showing up for dinner, even knowing that I was counting on hom to lit the fire, as I wrote above - so by 8 pm I had dinner on my own (cooked another thing - and even so I made such a portion that he could eat as well as soon as he would arrive ) and wrote him this message:
"Sorry, but I don't understand what is going on...

Please answer when you get a message - remember I've told me you'd be here by 11 am, and I've been waiting for you since then, not only waiting for a chance to organize your help but I was even waiting for you to have dinner !!!"
(I wasn't worried that he was injuried or had a problem, because he was reading all me messages)
By then (almost 9 pm) he sent me a message saying he was at the door. I came down, opened the door, and he was all apologies, excuses, saying he should have told me this and that.... I said the main problem was NOT communicating and having me stuck on HIS AGENDA
HE told me he would be there for me the whole next week and I said that was not needed, I only ask for help 3 hours / day, and he asked at what time I'd like to start, the following day, and I said by 9 am, so you'll know what to carry on after I go out by 11 am. He agreed.
OF COURSE he wasn't even up 'till 9:10 am, so I went out for a coffee and when I came back he wasn't up yet, so I wrote him a message saying this wasn't working and asking him to leave. Then he came to the leaving room where I was working on a translation, again apologizing and apologizing. He asked me to stay for another night but I was done !!!! I told him I had to go out as I already told him, and I didn't want to be worried while I was out, so NO. He went to his bedroom and stood there for a long time, so I had to write him remebering I had to go out by 11 am and wanted this to go smoothly after all that happened - I had to call 1 of my sons and let him know what was going on and he might have to come to put Fabio out (!!!! is this "the spirit" of Workaway????? ) then he came to the leaving room
by 11 am and said he was waiting for this and that.....
Of course, once again, MY plans had to change dur to HIS AGENDA
When he finally went away, he told me he wanted us to be "in good terms" #redacted text# I said this was not possible for me, after all he made me go through on purpose for the last 24 hours (even not being able to go where I needed this morning), due to his lack of consideration
I used to think the spirit of Workaway was completely different, because I had 3 other people before that were GREAT (2 of them were supposed to stay for some days and after all stayed long, 1 of them for a month, the other one I invited his girlfriend who was coming to Portugal to come and stay also), but then I took in 1 couple who were somehow like Fabio - that's why I didn't stand this attitude, because I endured this before for 1 week with that couple - NO MORE !!!!

The time I spent with Mateus, Louise, Jessica & Eder was unforgettable
They are warm, open people and it was a pleasure to know them

I fully intend to return in the future to see how the project has progressed, I wish them the best of luck!

It was an absolute joy to stay with Helena and Omid.
They were clear, concise and welcoming and made my first visit to Vienna a great experience.

My only regret would be that it was too short, I wish we had more time together!
