Description

I'm a 21 year old university student, studying Computer Science at The University of Manchester (UK). Within Computer Science, my favourite areas are machine learning / AI and robotics but I enjoy anything and everything to do with computers and problem solving.

Alongside programming, my main hobby would probably be woodwork, mostly using hand and power tools, but I have some experience with a range of machinery such as a wood lathe and band saw. I also enjoy reading (mostly fantasy), hiking and photography, especially astrophotography and wildlife, but haven't done much since starting university. Additionally, although it isn't exactly a hobby, I love trying new food - both cooking and eating.

I would love to get more into traveling, with one of my favourite holidays being backpacking around China with my family a few years ago.

I'm interested in renovation and, provided I can afford it, would like to build or renovate my own house in the future.

I've never done a workaway before, but I'm not afraid of hard work, and am willing to give anything a try.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm fairly fit and enjoy hands-on / physical work such as woodwork, DIY, small electronics (I've designed and built a volume controller and a '1 in, 2 out' audio switch), building, gardening, and cooking, and am more than happy to get stuck into any task.

I work well both in teams and on my own though, as an introvert, I do enjoy spending some time to myself every so often. With regards to working in teams, I prefer not to lead but have found from experience that I can when needed.

I'm good with children, having been a Beaver Scouts young leader pre-university, but don't want to do workaways with a primary focus of teaching or childcare. Additionally, I love animals (particularly pets) but don't have experience in farmstay work, though would be happy to try it out.

Finally, although I'm confident when it comes to computer-related tasks, I probably won't be of much help with anything to do with social media as I don't really use social media myself.
