Hello
I’m so glad that you have stopped to have a look at my profile, I’m Sarah.
I am a woman of an age where I have accumulated an eclectic mix of learning, skills and experience in my life and wise enough to know that there is so, so much more to be learned and experienced.
I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning about them, their unfolding stories, interests and cultures; learning new skills and contributing to collective projects.
A bit about me and my various ’incarnations’:
Top of the list is that I am a mother to three amazing (now grown up) people.
I have worked as a teacher of English for the past 13 years in the UK. The skills involved are various and wide ranging and I could tick the box ‘farming’ if shepherding hormonal people through their teen years counts!
I have also run my own (small) decorating and design business- painting/ wall papering/murals/ themed rooms/ interior design/subcontracting. My prep work is thorough and can plaster small areas if wall necessary, strip and restore wooden /upholster furniture and basic tiling/grouting.
I’ve worked for a few weeks in Rwanda on a volunteer charity project (mural, learning walls and teaching primary English)
My other skills and interests:
Arts and crafts- such as painting (watercolour/acrylic pencil sketch) a range of crafting projects such as mosaics/patch working/knitting/ hand or machine sewing/glass and ceramic painting
Cooking – very versatile and willing to try a new recipe/invent one depending on what ingredients are available
Gardening- I have kept a veg patch, lawn and various pots for many years and to varying successes. I am a hedgerow forager and enjoy making jams/chutneys/ cordials and various fruit/berry infused alcoholic drinks!
Reading (obviously- I taught English!)
Music listening to/joining in the singing (play guitar badly and have just bought an accordion- would love to have lessons if you can play!)
Swimming- I’m a water babe and love open water swimming.
Walking – need to up my stamina though!
Dancing – I can dance Ceroc style dancing- happy to learn new styles.
Writing creatively- something I need to do more of.
