  • Description

Hola! My name is Andrés and I’m a Software Engineering student from Córdoba, in the sunny (and hot) south of Spain.

Now that I’m done with university, I’m looking for volunteering opportunities that allow me to visit cool places, learn new skills, immerse myself in a different culture, and make friends along the way. I believe this will be a great way to get to know myself better and figure out what to do and where to go next.

I’m a pretty chill yet energetic person who is always up for an adventure. Curious by nature and with a keen interest in technology, mechanics, and engineering in general, I enjoy constantly learning new stuff. Friendly, respectful, and open-minded, I love connecting with new people and lending a hand whenever possible. I value honesty and integrity in myself and others, I appreciate simplicity and minimalism, and I try to make conscious decisions to live in a more sustainable way.

I love animals, nature, and outdoor activities, especially biking. Traveling is my passion, as I get to visit cool places, experience different cultures (especially the food), try new activities, and spend time with friends or make new ones. On rainy days, I’d rather stay inside, reading, playing board games, or watching TV (I’m a bit of an introvert too). I like most sports, but what I truly love are cars and motorsports. I also enjoy listening to music (EDM in particular), music festivals, and nights out with friends.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’d describe myself as organized, punctual, hardworking and a bit of a perfectionist. I'm fluent in english and I'm good at communicating with people, so I’ll be happy to work in a team. I’m also healthy and fit, so I can deal with physically demanding tasks.

I've lived by myself for a while and I grew up in a big house, so I have experience with cleaning, general maintenance, and gardening. We also have 2 cats and a dog that I love to take care of. I definitely prefer eating to cooking, but I can also help in the kitchen and cook my own meals. I’ve always had bicycles and have some experience repairing them. And of course, as a software engineer I can help with anything IT-related.

I may not be an expert in anything, but I’m a quick learner, I don’t mind getting my hands dirty, and I put all my effort in everything I do.

  • Autres infos...

In 2019 I did an Erasmus exchange in the Netherlands and lived in Groningen for a year. I absolutely loved the experience, specially being able to meet cool and like-minded people from all over the world. During this year I also did a bit of traveling around Europe and visited my Erasmus friends’ hometowns, getting a real taste of their culture. I have now found in Workaway a way to continue this journey of learning, exploring, and making friends.

For me traveling is far more fulfilling when doing something more than simply passing through the touristy places taking pictures for Instagram. I really value experiences that allow me to meet locals and their customs, which is why I love traveling with local friends or joining guided tours when I go to a new city. I love Workaway for allowing me to do this on a budget, plus the gratifying feeling of, hopefully, becoming a helpful member in a cool project and being able to leave a positive mark wherever I go.

I love meeting interesting people and I know by experience that work doesn’t feel like work when you’re in good company, so I prefer workaways where I can spend time and work next to other volunteers or become part of an already international community. So far I have been lucky to meet some amazing people along the way, both hosts and fellow volunteers, who have become dear friends with whom I still keep in touch.

I love the quiet and calmness of being in nature, but I also enjoy city life and all it has to offer, which is why I love to stay in farms in beautiful rural spots but close enough to big cities and with good public transport options. Sometimes I also like to volunteer in hostels in interesting cities as long as they’re not too busy, which also have the benefit of being able to meet lots of cool travelers. I love using my time off to explore my surroundings on foot or by bike and the days off to do some more traveling.
