Hello, I'm Alexis from Malaysia :)

In November 2019, I embarked on a transformative backpacking journey, leaving Malaysia behind to fulfill my dream of exploring the world. This aspiration was kindled by the inspiring travelers I met while hosting at an Eco Village tucked away in the rainforests of Brunei through Workaway.

For the past few years, I've embraced a fulfilling and purpose-driven life, until the pandemic got me stuck in Poland. However, thanks to Workaway, I was given an unique opportunity and established a Virtual Reality Games Start Up in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Game development presented its challenges, including burnout and funding issues, I changed my path and now I am a project manager for a Polish company specializing in building exhibition stands across Europe.

Here's a summary of my experiences working and volunteering abroad:

🏫 Volunteered as an English teacher (beginner level) at an elementary school in Taiwan through the esteemed Aiesec program for one month.
☕️ Worked as a full-time Starbucks Barista in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA for three months via the WAT program.
🏝 Completed a three-month full-time housekeeping internship at Hilton Waikoloa Village, Hawaii through the WAT program.
🕌 Engaged in volunteering at a local travel agency and eco-lodge in the captivating country of Brunei for seven months.
🌊 Contributed as a volunteer at an Ocean Research Education Conservation Center for a week.
🏄🏻‍♀️ Assisted a paddleboard company in Krabi, Thailand for one month, managing tourists and social media.
🎊 Volunteered at HostelOne, a renowned hostel chain in Europe, to handle guest services and entertainment in Krakow, Poland for three months.

(During the Covid pandemic, I found myself stranded in Poland.)

👩‍👩‍👧‍👧 Embraced the role of babysitter, caring for children, practicing English, learning Polish, and exploring various cities across Poland for four months.
🏔 Volunteered at a hostel surrounded by breathtaking nature in Zakopane for four months.
🏠 Taught English and lived with a host family in Bydgoszcz
🌊 Taught English (beginner level) at a private language school in Kolobrzeg for one month.
👾 Co-founded eMotionsGames SA, a VR Indie Game Studio.
👷🏻‍♀️ Currently working as a project manager for a Polish company specializing in building exhibition stands that allow me to travel around Europe.

Given my affinity for Workaway, I've decided to reactivate my account as it remains my preferred way of traveling.

Add on: I was helping a small local tour operator agency and eco lodge for few months in Brunei. (Chinese Translation, Social Media, Tour Guide, Handling international school camps with 80-100 students, handling and working with workaway volunteers with local community project: basic building, physical work, and artwork)

Lightroom, Adobe photo editing app.
Final Cut Pro, Apple video editing app.
Canva, graphic design tool website.
Microsoft document & PowerPoint.

(I can help with editing a better quality video if the host has the equipment such as camera, GoPro and computer with editing software.)

I am always eager to learn new skills and not afraid to get my hand dirty ;)
