Description

Hi everyone,

I'm a 23 year old Dutchman who lives in England. I graduated from university in Summer 2023 but decided that I didn't want to pursue a career as an engineer. Instead, I have followed my heart and taken this unique time of my life to travel and experience different cultures.

I am on a journey both in the literal and metaphorical sense, discovering new things about myself and hoping to gain some clarity for what my future holds back in Europe. But for now I am trying to enjoy every moment, be as present as possible and trust that these lived experiences will direct me towards where I need to be.

I am an enthusiastic and curious person who loves having interesting conversations with people. I believe everyone has a fascinating story to tell, and it is the listeners duty to create an environment for this to be authentically expressed. I am also quite independent and appreciate my own company, time by myself to recharge.

A few of my main interest at the moment are reading, running, cycling, journaling, psychology, philosophy and photography.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

- Gardener/Handyman
7 years experience. I (sort of) have my own business at home ... it started as a small weekend job when I was younger but it's now full time and funds my trips.

- Animal Care
10 years experience. I have owned pet Pygmy goats since I was 14 (still have them) and I've got experience working with other farm animals.

- DIY
In recent years my gardening job has evolved slightly, into various wood construction projects, which has helped me develop carpentry skills. I have also done NGO projects in Ghana (2017) and Romania (2019) where I helped build things and also honed my handyman skills.

- Teaching / Child Care
During these NGO projects there was also teaching elements. On both trips I taught English to children at local schools. Similarly, on my recent travels to Vietnam (2024) I helped run a local initiative to teach kids English.

A little more info about me to try give you an accurate impression:

I like to travel spontaneously, rarely planning more than a day or two in advance. No plan really is the best plan. This leaves the space for unexpected surprises to arise and these are often the source of our greatest memories.

I am very much at a crossroad in my life. I graduated from university in the UK with a Bachelor in Engineering last year (2023) but know that this is not where my passion lies. I am fascinated by Psychology and will likely do a conversion course into this field soon, but until that point I am seeking to learn more about myself, the world and those I encounter.
