Description
Our names are Steven (60) and Patti Reade (57). We run a small greenhouse operation with 7 greenhouses in which we grow annual hanging baskets, bedding plants and vegetables starters.
Most work is done inside a heated, dry greenhouse. We need help to fill containers, transplant seedlings, sort tags, and general cleanup of buildings and area. We mostly need help in March, April and May and June.
We had an amazing first year with our workaways, most of our helpers stayed 2-3 weeks longer than planned. We are very easy going hosts, we have lots of laughs and fun.
We have 6 children and 4 grand children who visit regularly. For those with allergies, we should mention that we have a dog and a cat.
We are on the outskirts of town, but arrangements can be made to pick you up from the airport or train station.
From the Moncton NB Airport, we are about 1 hour.
From Halifax NS Airport, we are about 2 hours.
From the Train Station:
Halifax: 2.5 hours
Sackville, NB: 20 mins
Amherst, NS: 20 mins
Moncton, NB: 1 hour

Aide
You would help transplant seedlings, fill baskets and pots with soil, transplant plugs into baskets. You would also help keep greenhouses clean and neat, help with organizing tags and everyday maintenance.

You would stay in our house with us, a comfortable old farm house with your own bedroom, access to highspeed internet and satallite tv. Most meals will be prepared for you.

We live 30 minutes from Prince Edward Island and also are just a short drive to Nova Scotia. The ocean is in our back yard and is only a few minutes walk to the beach.

Nancy stayed with us for 2.5 weeks and we enjoyed every minute of having her! She is very friendly, fun and can certainly go with the flow. We found Nancy to be very responsible and she has tons of common sense, she was always willing to do any task we asked. I highly recommend Nancy as a workaway. Good luck girl, I miss you already!

Our stay at Patti and Steven's was fantastic! It was our first Workaway, and we are so glad it was here. They are really funny and welcoming people, the work was very relaxing, and they are excellent cooks :). It was a lot of fun and we were sad to leave!

Patti and Steven are fantastic hosts. I really enjoyed staying with them. My days were spent helping Patti in the greenhouses and whatever else she might like help with. They were so accommodating and flexible. Not a day goes by without tons of laughter.

My stay at Patti & Steven was great! They are a really relaxed couple and will quickly integrate you into their adorable family. The work in the greenhouses is easily manageable, most of all when you like flowers. I had so much fun with Patti, Steven and the rest of the family that I acctually miss them already ;-)

We loved having Leslie stay with us. She fit into our crazy family easily and helped with everything from the greenhouses to house cleaning and babysitting.
She is a good worker and dependable, always smiling. Her being a vegetarian was not a problem, she looked after her own meals. I would definitely recommend her as a helper.

I have really enjoyed my time with Patti and Steven. They are very welcoming, and working in the green houses is very peaceful. They are also very close to several tourist spots/interesting places to see. I would definitely recommend their home as a workaway position.

Patti and Steven are a very funny, generous, and welcoming couple. You'll have a lot of fun staying with them! The work is easy and the house is next to the ocean. So there are lots of possibilities around how to spend your freetime. Famous touristy stuff like bay of Fundy, PEI, fossilcliffs etc. is not far away. I would definitely recommend them!
