Description
We are a Swiss family with six children between the ages of 5 and 19, currently in La Palma, Canary Islands. The four younger children (5-16) still live with us. For mid-October to mid/end of November we are looking for someone who would like to live with us and help with the household, cooking and childcare. We are an active family that enjoys hiking, swimming in the sea, barbecuing in the woods and playing board games. We offer plenty of sun, sea, mountains to balance and the happy, spontaneous mentality of the Canary Spaniards. We appreciate open and direct communication and a good balance between time together and individual activities.

Wir sind eine Schweizer Familie mit sechs Kindern im Alter zwischen 5 und 19 Jahren, zurzeit auf La Palma, Kanaren. Die vier jüngeren Kinder (5-16) wohnen noch bei uns. Für Mitte Oktober bis Mitte/Ende November suchen wir jemanden, der gerne bei uns wohnen und im Haushalt, beim Kochen und in der Kinderbetreuung unterstützen möchte. Wir sind eine aktive Familie, die gerne wandert, im Meer badet, im Wald grilliert und Gesellschaftsspiele spielt.
Wir bieten Sonne satt, Meer, Berge zum Ausgleich und die fröhliche, spontane Mentalität der kanarischen Spanier. Wir schätzen offene und direkte Kommunikation und eine gute Balance zwischen gemeinsamer Zeit und individuellen Aktivitäten.

If you enjoy the Spanish language or would like to learn it, you can let off steam here on the island. Swimming, hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddling and scuba diving are also available. Or a visit to the volcano that erupted here at the end of 2021.
Wenn du Freude an der spanischen Sprache hast oder sie gerne lernen möchtest, kannst du dich hier auf der Insel austoben. Schwimmen, Wandern, Kajakfahren, Stand-Up-Paddeling und Tauchen ist ebenfalls möglich. Oder eine Besichtigung des Vulkans, der Ende 2021 hier ausgebrochen ist.

Aide
You should enjoy working with children and you shouldn't mind if things get a little louder in between. We speak German at home and our two younger children understand little English and Spanish. You should therefore be able to make yourself understood in German. We eat everything, but understand if you are vegetarian. Vegan diet is not possible with us. It is important to us that eating is fun and that the children can further develop their intuitive, pleasurable eating habits. Unfortunately, we cannot support special diets. We look forward to you trying out new recipes with the children and cooking and baking with them if you want to. Our children do not attend a local school, but learn independently. The older children are enrolled in a German correspondence school. If you enjoy math, chemistry and physics at secondary school level, we would be happy if you would like to accompany our children in their learning. If not, that's no problem either. We like to go on trips to the forest, to the mountains and to the sea and are happy to take you with us. We are non-smokers and would also like a non-smoking helper.

Du solltest Freude am Umgang mit Kindern haben und es sollte dir nichts ausmachen, wenn es zwischendurch mal etwas lauter wird. Wir sprechen zuhause Deutsch, und unsere beiden jüngeren Kinder verstehen nur wenig Englisch und Spanisch. Du solltest dich daher auf Deutsch verständlich machen können.
Wir essen alles, haben aber Verständnis, wenn du dich vegetarisch ernährst. Vegane Ernährung ist bei uns nicht möglich. Es ist uns wichtig, dass Essen Freude bereitet und die Kinder ihr intuitives, lustvolles Essverhalten weiterentwickeln können. Wir können spezielle Diäten leider nicht unterstützen. Wir freuen uns, wenn du gemeinsam mit den Kindern neue Rezepte ausprobierst und mit ihnen kochst und bäckst, falls du das möchtest.
Unsere Kinder besuchen keine lokale Schule, sondern lernen selbstständig. Die älteren Kinder sind in einer deutschen Fernschule eingeschrieben. Wenn du Freude hast v.a. an Mathe, Chemie und Physik auf Realschulniveau, freuen wir uns, wenn du unsere Kinder beim Lernen begleiten möchtest. Wenn nicht, ist das auch kein Problem.
Wir unternehmen gerne Ausflüge in den Wald, in die Berge und ans Meer und nehmen dich gerne mit.
Wir sind Nichtraucher und wünschen uns ebenfalls eine:n nichtrauchende:n Helfer:in.

We live in an old house in El Paso on the west side of the island. There are bus connections or our bikes and we have a car. We can provide you with your own room, you would share the bathroom and kitchen with us.
Wir wohnen in einem alten Haus in El Paso auf der Westseite der Insel. Es gibt Busverbindungen oder unsere Fahrräder. Wir haben ein Auto. Wir können ein eigenes Zimmer zur Verfügung stellen, Bad und Küche würdest du mit uns teilen.

La Palma is the westernmost of the seven Canary Islands and lies west of Morocco. There are ferry and flight connections between the islands, all of which are very different. Depending on the island, you can go hiking, kayaking, kite and windsurfing, snorkeling, diving and stand-up paddling.
La Palma ist die westlichste der sieben Kanaren-Inseln und liegt westlich von Marokko. Es gibt Fähr- und Flugverbindungen zwischen den Inseln, die alle sehr unterschiedlich sind. Je nach Insel kann man Wandern, Kajakfahren, Kite- und Windsurfen, Schnorcheln, Tauchen und Stand-Up-Paddeln.
