Description
Did you know that, relative to the size of its population, Lebanon hosts more refugees than any other country in the world? Nearly 20% of people living in Lebanon are refugees, mostly from neighbouring Syria.
We are an NGO based in the breathtaking Bekaa Valley, about an hour's drive from Beirut. We provide support to vulnerable members of the local and refugee communities, through education, livelihood and social stability services and the distribution of emergency aid.
Volunteers run our English, French, art, sport and dance classes, as well as our cinema club and early childhood education programme. They also support our local staff during aid distributions and basic Arabic, maths and yoga.
We host volunteers year round to help run our projects. Since 2016, more than 600 incredible people from over 30 countries have come to help us. Will you be next?
Also - we have opened a project in Beirut
So, If the urban experience in Beirut is more your thing, look no further than our newly opened project
This is a non-profit project , with a mission to provide a community center where people can feel a sense of belonging, connect, and work towards common goals. The center is located in Sin El Fil, Beirut, on the border to Nabaa, a neighborhood that is home to many Syrian refugees. This is an area that frequently is affected by intercommunal tensions. Our goal is to combat this by providing a safe space free from discrimination on the basis of religion, gender, age, nationality, or any other factor.
we believe that community development goes hand in hand with providing an opportunity to improve your skills in an inclusive environment, that also functions as a focal point for social gatherings for all the people in the area. That’s why we organize and provide the facilities for a range of different activities. At the moment we offer: English classes at four different levels, computer skills, and vocational training, individual and group therapy, guest speakers as well as community events.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

You will work as part of a team of international volunteers alongside our local staff, and will be serving displaced Syrians and Palestinians as well as the Lebanese population. This provides a perfect opportunity for meaningful cultural exchange, and is what a lot of former volunteers said they found the most rewarding.
For those who are interested in learning Arabic, we can recommend some excellent local teachers.
:
you will be a part of a smaller team consisting of international and local volunteers. You will have the opportunity to take on other responsibilities alongside teaching the classes, this is a great way to gather real-life experience in areas such as social media, fundraising, and MEAL. As well as working here, you will also have time to visit Beirut, explore Lebanon, and immerse yourself in Lebanese culture.
You will have the opportunity to practice Arabic and connect with the students as well as volunteers from different backgrounds. We believe that an enjoyable volunteering experience is directly tied to having a good relationship with your colleagues, that’s why we try to arrange trips, dinners, and other activities together.Aide
We are looking for open-minded, driven and dedicated volunteers who can commit to being part of our team for an absolute minimum of one month, and who are aged 23+. We are primarily focused on supplementary education for young children. Other projects include: adult ESL classes, community dinners and material/food aid distributions.
We provide our own training and are open to welcoming volunteers from all kinds of backgrounds! That said, we typically receive applications from more potential volunteers than we have room to accept. Preference is given to those who can commit to a minimum of three months and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- You have a TEFL, CELTA or other English as a Foreign Language qualification
- You have a French as a Second Language qualification
- You have a bachelor's degree in Education, a PGCE certificate, or similar
- You have experience working with vulnerable children, for example as a social worker or as part of another refugee-focused NGO
- You have experience in Social Media and Communications
- You speak some Arabic or French
- You hold an International Driving Permit or can obtain one prior to arrival
At the community center, the main job of the volunteers is to provide excellent English classes for our students therefore a lot of the same qualifications as mentioned above are sought after here as well. One of the ways we differ here is the additional tasks that volunteers have the opportunity to take responsibility for alongside teaching English.
Therefore we are also looking for people with experience or interest in the following areas;
Social Media, Fundraising, MEAL, Volunteer Coordination, Arts, and Music.Langues parlées

We have a volunteer house with several dorm rooms, a shower, large communal living area and kitchen. Each volunteer is expected to participate in our weekly cooking and cleaning schedule. As we are a charity, we ask volunteers to contribute $150 (USD) a month to cover their accommodation costs; this money goes directly to covering our rent of the space and funding the work that we do.
As we live and work closely as a team, it is very important that you are comfortable living in a communal space, and committed to interacting kindly and constructively with other team members.
As a volunteer, you will be living together with up to four other international volunteers in an apartment very close to the community center. The apartment consists of one bedroom, a living room, a small kitchen area, a bathroom, and a large balcony. To cover the rent cost and contribute directly to keeping the community center running we ask volunteers to pay 120$ per month for accommodation.Autres infos...
We ask that all of our volunteers are fully vaccinated (two doses) from COVID-19.
Weekend travel for sightseeing is permitted, but we ask that volunteers do not attend large group events with people outside of our bubble (volunteers and staff). This includes, clubs, weddings, crowded bars etc. We work with many vulnerable people and need to ensure we do our best to protect them.
We love hanging out together on the weekends: reading, chilling in the sunshine, playing board games, firing up the pizza oven, doing yoga or meditation, going for walks in our beautiful village etc.Informations complémentaires
