    Description

Hi and Hola, we are a non-profit animal welfare foundation operating in rural south Guerrero, Mexico.

We rescue animals that have been abused and hurt and give them safety, love and comfort in our fenced open-air sanctuary, while looking for permanent homes, if a suitable home is not found we care for them for life.

We have 50-70 dogs, 100 cats and 1 horse in our care.

We run mass spay and neuter clinics to fix the stray animal problem we have across Mexico.

We operate weekly stray dog feeds to neighboring towns, feeding those most in need.

Working week is 5 hours a day, 5 days a week with two consecutive days off. In return you will live in the shared volunteer house and you will be reimbursed 250 pesos per week for groceries.

before we proceed any further , please, answer these questions :

    1. are you vaccinated ? at this point, we only can accept vaccinated volunteers.

    2. are you a very light sleeper ? our volunteer house is in the middle of the sanctuary and dogs can bark at night , if you are a light sleeper, you might be tired in the morning, majority of volunteers get used to the noise in a few days, some use headphones, but some dont.

    3. Have you lived in rural small areas among local people in Central, South America, Africa or Asia? its a beautiful world for us, but lack of amenities could be disappointing for volunteers who have never been traveling to this part of the world. When power goes off or internet is unstable, we joke about all this, can you ?

if after these questions, you still want to come and save lives with us, keep on reading !

You will be living at the volunteer house which accommodates 6 people, along with our animals who live outside in our backyard freely. If you are a couple you will have your own bedroom, if you are traveling solo , you will share a room with other volunteer.

Volunteers must be prepared to live alongside the dogs and cats, they can be noisy and demanding at times, you must be an animal lover!

Volunteer house is a Mexican style house, simple and rustic, has all the amenities you need but basic so please don’t expect luxuries. We have a shared bathroom and kitchen and a shaded roof area recently built by our volunteers.

We are in the middle of nowhere, but still close to civilization. It is not a busy party town with nightlife but we have a few local restaurants where you can eat Mexican food, there are plenty of social spaces at the house for volunteers to hang out together.

On the combi bus we are 45 minutes from the city and 15 minutes from the airport.

The volunteer house is only a 5-minute walk from the beach and an hour walk from the closest, and more populated, village of Barra de Potosi.
