We stayed 8 weeks in the family of Rosa, Petur, Elin Rose and their two lovely dogs. We lived in a appartment and later in their house in a separate room. They have a hostel and we helped there to clean the rooms, kitchen, bathrooms and washed the sheets. Sometimes we also helped at home with cleaning, take out the dogs, renovating at the house or
… read more cleaning a saloon. We felt very welcome and also had enough time to travel around Island. We were part of the family and learned some things about the country and the culture. Thank you for this nice experiences.

I had the absolute pleasure to stay with Rosa, Petur and Elin for one month, in his time they made me feel like family! I was helping out with cleaning at guest house and their home, as well as laundry, walking the dogs and some grocery shopping. The work is manageable once you set up your own cleaning system/ cycle and washing machines frequency.
… read more At the beginning was a bit overwhelming as they are undergoing hose remodeling and most area and things is up in the air, but after a few days I got the hang of it (and this work/ remodeling is only temporary). I always had access to food and dinners were family time, they even landed me a car to go to guest house and carry the laundry, also I was able to use it at weekends if needed with previous coordination.
Rosa is an amazing person, very hard-working woman with a beautiful soul, we had many long conversations after dinner and I’m so happy I got to meet her and spend time together. Petur is a very friendly and caring too, he got me some pastries and sweets, took me to his parents and sister for dinner. Elin is a beautiful, smart and kind young woman, we even had a 4 hours long interesting conversation on my last night, she helped me with some apps and with Icelandic, was so great to talk and learn from her (she might seem shy at first but with time you discover the friendly and intelligent person she is). Nino and Ale (the dogs) are characters, at the beginning you have to win them over and once they accept you are in 😊
This was my first workaway experience and I honestly could not be more thankful to meet you guys, I consider you my friends and you are always welcome to visit my in Dom. Rep. and of course when I’m in Iceland I will stop by to say hello. For ever grateful for the fishing trip you invited me on and all the family dinners. it was great to stay with the family, the jon is satifsing and everything is such comfortable and close to the city. rosa her husband and her daughter are very kind people and we really enjoy to work for them

Lenka and Honza staid at my house for 3 weeks while I was away. I was there for their first days and really enjoyed their company. They are both really nice, helpful and did everything I asked them to do. While I was away they kept the house clean and cooked for my family. They did also grocery shopping.
My family were really happy to have them

I highly recommend this wonderful couple to everyone.
I welcome them back anytime either as friends or for workaway

We spend in Rosa's house three weeks. She just left to vacation So we was caring for household.

Rosa, ellin and petur are really a great host. I felt like home while I was residing in their home. They allowed me to take their bike and roam around for exploration which was really a superb experience for a traveller like me. Even outside their house have a wonderful scenario as the mountains as just in front of them which makes the situation more positive. I wish I will meet them soon. Rosa is amazing!
She was very quick to respond to my inquiry of coming to help. They are in an excellent location in Reykjavik, I could ride one of their bicycles anywhere in the city. Rosa is a fantastic cook, passionate about Icelandic culture and customs and she is a fantastic teacher. Elin is a wonderful girl with lots of interests and she was definitely a great friend. And Peter was a lot of fun to chat with!
