Description
Welcome !
Our Community is just over 5 years old and is home to about 15 residents, plus guests and work-stay friends. We aim to create a inclusive and fun atmosphere for everyone living on the land, and this year we will be building new permaculture-based gardens and constructing some fun structures around the land for a variety of uses!
Located on Mt. Maxwell, with 200km views across the ocean and neighboring islands, the property is 13.5 acres of dynamic topography and established forest. Community is also beside largest provincial park on Island, with hiking trails to both the ocean and the highest mount peaks that can be reached from our door step.
Good people, healthy food, dynamic architecture, gardening and the occasional dance party. This is what we are contributing towards here on Salt Spring Island! Community members aim to stay fit, eat healthy, and take good care of ourselves and one another. Please feel welcome to submit an application to work-stay here and help us build the vision!

Please keep in mind that the community is still in it's adolescence. This means that we are in the earlier stages of development, and also means that you can be a part of a growing and well intended permaculture plan (that includes edible landscapes, environmentally sustainable buildings, and the on-set of integrative social permaculture).
Please tell us as much about yourself as possible, and we look forward to having you here!

Travelers and visitors can benefit from participating in the early stages of an intentional community.
What we are attempting is of high quality in both building and landscape design. Our team includes skilled professionals in agriculture, building and design.
Being a part of our team will provide an opportunity to learn a variety of skill sets and get hands on experience, while having the opportunity to meet new friends. We don't push our work-team too hard, and so there will also be lots of opportunity for leisure, adventure and play.
Come and enjoy your stay! We have movie nights on our large projector, make music around the camp fire, and also hold the occasional dance party!

Please note that behaviors exhibited on this land strive towards a high standard of respect, emotional maturity, and communication. We ask that everyone visiting our community project do so with good intentions, and to respect the other people living here as well as the overall ecology of the environment.Aide
This year we will be building garden beds, fences, outhouses, compost stations, trails and a variety of other fun projects! We aim to have a team of about 5-10 people to assist with everything from running the existing kitchen, to building a new one!
To summarize, options include:
1. Assisting our lead builders as we finalize construction on several structures.
2. Landscaping paths and other leisure area's.
3. Permaculture gardens, soil building, garden beds, etc.
4. Cooking and meal prep
5. Possible web design
6. Art projects, such as colorful signs.Langues parlées

On non-work days, or for snacks, guests are responsible for their own meals and these can be prepared in our community outdoor kitchen. Community eats largely local, vegetarian, mostly vegan, and ultimately healthy.
*Guests should expect to be responsible over any specialty food items.
Work-stay Schedule:
Our work-week for 2024 includes 3 days of land-work per week, and usually involve Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Start time begins at 9am, we have a lunch around noon, and the day's finish at 4pm. Occasionally, we may work a few hours during a 4th day
Land Schedule:
Currently, we have one weekly land-meeting and group check in. In the mornings, some people do stretching or yoga on one of our platforms which others are welcome to join in on. Otherwise, there will be group meals during lunch and dinner on work-days. As the land development continues, more community activities will be integrated into the weekly land-schedule.Autres infos...
Salt Spring Island is a travelers mecca. We have some of the worlds best organic farms, amazing places to hike, and a truly dynamic social and geographic landscape. Lots to soak in,, even if it's just hanging in a hammock in the woods.

Salt Spring is a beautiful island covered in trails and lakes. Ecstatic dance and farmers markets are weekly across the island and folk on the land are regulars and usually happy to share a car seat.
