  Description

  GENERAL INFORMATION.
  
  This is a quirky food and accommodation business located on the northwest coast of Donegal which is close to five beautiful beaches, the Horn Head sea-cliffs, Ards Forest Park, Muckish and Errigal mountains, Glenveagh National Park and Tory Island.
  
  Our 2 hectare (5 acre) property, a pre-Celtic site, is located alongside a main bus-route and two miles (3km) from the nearest village ... Dunfanaghy (Co. Donegal). We are right beside New Lake Nature Reserve, with sea views over the Atlantic to Tory Island.
  
  There are small shops and some pubs with traditional music in the nearby villages of Dunfanaghy (3km) and Falcarragh (8km) . Letterkenny, the nearest town, is 45 mins away by car or bus. The bus passes the main entrance to Corcreggan 3/4 times a day.
  
  THE BUSINESS
  
  We are primarily an accommodation business which specialises in Private hire from Oct-May each year. We then transition into a full serviced offering which includes B&B, Food & bed on site from late May through to September. It is during this busy full-service period, when we bring Workaways into complement our own year-round team.

  WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR WORKAWAYS:
  
  We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic self-starters who are strong communicators, enjoy working with others and like to provide a good service to our guests. Our workaways must have a strong work ethic and must be able to work independently and confident in dealing with issues as and when they arise.
  
  Our workaways are an integral part of the Corcreggan experience, from both the team and the guests' perspective. Our workaways become members of the Corcreggan family, and we all work hard as a team, to make the summer a very special experience for all our guests, staff and workaways alike.
  
  Our successful workaways will typically therefore exhibit the following characthereistics:
  
  - Self-starters, personable, friendly, hard-working and punctual - true team players!
  
  - Responsible and trustworthy - this is so important as there is an 'on-call' element to all our Workaway roles;
  
  - Happy to manage their own workload in an efficient and effective manner - they see what needs to be done and get one with it with minimal supervision
  
  - Warm and welcoming - this is also very important, as all our workaways are key to creating a great guest experience, regardless of their role on site.
  
  - Happy to multi-task! Every day is different in Corcreggan so our most successful Workaways have typically been individuals and couples who like to get stuck in - they enjoy variety in their work and can turn their hands to anything!
  
  
  THE DEAL
  
  The time commitment will range from 20-40 paid hours per week depending on the role. Depending on the time of the season, some of the roles may also be DUAL-ROLES so flexibility is important.
  
  We require the Workaway to have prior experience in hospitality and to be able to stay with us for at least 8-16 weeks.
  
  In return for your assistance, we provide accommodation to our Workawayers in a single or shared room (with one other Workawayers of the same sex) PLUS an hourly wage (equivalent at least to the minium wage in Ireland).
  
  Our paid workaways are also asked to provide an element of 'on-call' support as part of their roles as the Owners/Manager do not live on site at all times. On-call duties rotate between all Workaways / Staff living on site and is unpaid.
  
  Our workaways will have access to the communal Kitchen where you can prepare your meals. We encourage our Workaways to come prepared with food as food is not provided. We do however offer all our staff and workaways a staff discount on any food or beverages purchased on site when our food offerings are operational.
  
  The work type and hours will depend on the time of year, and where there is little or no work indoors, there is plenty to do our in the garden ... gardening, painting and decorating, projects, food preparation etc. You can also help to create new recreational areas and activities for guests to the site. During your time here, you will be able to explore the wonderful local landscape, beaches, forest park, etc.
  
  
  OTHER INFORMATION
  
  We have SUPER INTERNET here due to the new high speed fibre broadband recently installed in the area, so bring your Laptop if you wish. We also have bikes on site that our workaways are welcome to make use of.
  
  If you like the countryside you will love it here. We need Workawayers who are friendly, reliable and sociable. It is important that you have good English, to be able to chat to our guests as you will be an important part of their experience.
  
  We have had many wonderful helpers/workers/Workawayers who came to stay at the Mill down through the years and it's been a wonderful experience for us. Please read our REVIEWS for further information.

  We are located in a very special area, between an old all Gaelic-speaking community and an old English Plantation village where people from all over the world come to visit. This part of Ireland is renowned for it's beaches and we have surfers from all over the world come to check out the waves.
  
  It is also a highly spiritual area and within a 5-mile radius of Dunfanaghy, there are seven times the national average of ancient sites dating back 6000 years. Whereas, with a village population of less than 500 people one could expect one church, we have six within the same area and a very special ruined church which dominates the village and its history.
  
  Within the village there are several traditional music pubs, which are also an attraction for guests and Workaway helpers alike and we avail of every opportunity to introduce our Workawayer to local cultural events and performances.
  
  Many renowned Irish and English writers and artists, revolutionaries and statesmen have visited or made their homes here over the years but one in particular, George Russell (AE) made very vivid connections, in verse, story and paintings, to the Faery world and the pre-Celtic people which, being a major feature of our business profile is very much enjoyed by our guests and their children alike.

  **UPDATE 2024 SEASON** (workaways required from May/June - Sept/Oct)
  
  We are currently planning for our Summer 2024 season and we are looking for experienced individuals and couples with a background in hospitality for the following roles:
  
  1. CHEF - late May to September- Our Chefs will work alongside our head chef to prepare and cook some delicious seasonal food in our outdoor bistro (Gourmet Fish & Chips) and at Breakfast time. You will also be responsible for ensuring the kitchen is maintained to the highest standards at all time, and that all stocks and supplies are maintained to service levels. Typical shift: 7am-3pm / 12pm-10pm.
  
  2. RECEPTIONIST - June-Sept - Our reception team look after all elements of the guest experience, from communications (phone/email/social media) to Arrival and checkin, and check outs. A typical shifts on reception are 7.45-11.30pm and/or 2.45 - 7.30pm. Our reception team are often the first experience our guests have of Corcreggan Mill, to is is critical that they are sociable, kind, welcoming, helpful and patient!(as anyone with hospitality experience will know!). Reception roles are often dual roles and can double up with KPAs, HAs or FSAs (see below)***
  
  2. **KITCHEN PORTER & ASSISTANT (KPA)** June to September - Our Kitchen Assistants work under the guidance of our Chefs to ensure that the kitchen is clean and operational at all times. Our KAs may also be involved in preparing ingredients and dishes for service.
  
  3.** HOUSEKEEPING ASSISTANTS (HAs)** July to September - Our Housekeeping assistants work as part of the Housekeeping team to clean and prepare the guest accommodation and ensure that all communal areas (incl. Toilets & showers), laundry department and staff quarters are cleaned and maintained throughout the day. HAs are often dual roles and can double up as KPAs.
  
  4. **FOOD SERVICE / COUNTER ASSISTANTS (FCA)** June to September - Our Food Service Assistants will work in our main house and our outdoor bistro to provide the highest levels of service to our guests and customers. This is a role for an energetic and organised customer-focused individual with an outgoing personality and strong customer service skills.

  The area nearby is a rambler's paradise with lots of lovely scenery, walking routes, forest park, sea-cliffs, and beaches. We are located on a main bus route so there are easy, daily services to and from Dunfanaghy, Letterkenny, Derry, Belfast, Galway and Dublin
  
  It is a RURAL location and a 3km walk to the nearest shop/village and 10km to the nearest post office. So it will not suit individuals who want to be located in a town/village/city environment.
  
  There is an electric bike on site which is available for Workaways to use. We also have a daily bus service to and from the local village and town. Taxis are also available in the area.
