We had a really nice time here. Tor is a friendly and organized manager. Near to Oslo and just next to the sea, the campsite is well located. We had a lot of different tasks to do, such as cleaning, cooking for small and large groups, painting or fixing things. You will be integrated in a team with a lot of other volunteers and have free time to hike, kayak, visiting the surroundings or just chilling. We really enjoyed being there for a month and recommend the place !

I spent 3 wonderful weeks with Constanze, Christian and the kids back in March. During the week I had two main tasks: taking care of the laundry (doing the laundry, hanging, folding, taking to the rooms) and taking care of the meals (cooking lunch and a salad/soup for dinner, setting and clearing the table, loading and unloading the dishwasher, go grocery shopping); while at weekends I had much free time to explore the surroundings: the beautiful nature around the village, Hamburg (25 mins by S-Bahn), Lübeck, I even went as far as Göttingen one weekend! I was free to choose when to do the laundry, unless there was a special urgency, and I usually cooked both lunch and dinner in the morning, so I got the whole afternoon and sometimes part of the morning to study German on my own (on top of practicing talking with them of course!) I felt welcomed warmly in their home and in their family 😊 The kids are almost totally independent, each with their own interests and inclinations: if you’re a music and sports lover you’ll find plenty of opportunities for nice conversations with them… Anton even got me to play his cello once!! Although they have much work to do, Constanze and Christian too were always ready to have a chat with me about what sparks their (and my) interest: history, personality types, their life experience, etc… Last, but not least, you’ll get to know Widu, a lovely dog with a good appetite for both fresh bread (be careful 😉) and fresh air. We went for walks every now and then and I must say it was a good workout. I’d definitely recommend spending some times with this lovely family: they’re energetic, straight-forward, dynamic. You won’t get bored and you’ll see quite a fascinating piece of the world.

Garance and Benoit are amazing volunteers, guests and people. They are hard working and very skilled, helped us a lot with firewood production. They are polite and uncomplicated guests, and such fun to hang with. They are both very interesting to talk to, and their laughter is contagious. And Largo is just the most empathic and sweet dog😍 It was such a pleasure having them here.

I have been hosting hundreds of volunteers since 2017 and befriended lots of different people over the years. Diego and Sara will be amongst the top Workaways ever! I really enjoyed the time I’ve with them. Really chill but also very active when it comes to the tasks! They made signs for the trail and shared so many ideas to help promote and setup the island. They are very skilled! I really enjoyed working with them. A great team player! Very easy going and respectful to the house rules. Time went fast with them! They go the extra mile. I really enjoyed the time spent with Diego and Sara! Never a dull moment. I had a blast and it was a great experience having hosted such awesome human beings! I highly recommend them. Get in touch! Again, thank you Diego and Sara! See you around! ❤️

We spent 5 nights at Matias's place. His woodhouse is located just outside Punta Arenas in a very peaceful and tranquil area. Our tasks were to look after the house while Matias was away for work and clean it after his big birthday party. We also had to paint a wall in the kitchen area and help painting the ceiling. Easy tasks which left us with plenty of free time to enjoy the city and cosiness of the house. We got to spend some time with Matias who is very friendly, easygoing and sociable with friends coming over in the evening. He is also very generous with food and provisions. It was great fun to also casually run into him in Torres del Paine where he saw us walking and stopped his car for a quick chat and goodbye hugs! Overall, we had a great time at Matias's as this allowed us to explore Punta Arenas while we were waiting for our ferry to Puerto Williams.

Our time at Fredrik’s place was amazing. We stayed for 6 weeks and have no regrets coming here. The region is beautifull and perfect to explore the wilderness. The work is good and meaningfull. Fredrik made sure we had enough fun activities to do like hiking, biking, kayaking and much more. The surroundings of the accomodation are peacefull and quiet sometimes deer would even graze in the field next to the house. There is a lot of life in the forest with animals that are not common in other parts of europe. It was also nice to meet new people, like Fredrik and his parents and friends, who would cook good food for us and show us around in exchange for some work. It was an amazing experience and we would recommend it to everyone that likes to be active and explore this beautifull country.

I stayed in Tuba’s beautiful farm for a half month, and the time we spent together was really special to me. Tuba was a great host with such a big heart. She and all of her community members welcomed me so warmly. Apparently they treated me as a friend guest, not as a worker. That made me really comfortable so I could engage deeply into the community. The work times were quite flexible, and she always let me decide when to work or what to do. She even told me to take a rest so many times. The tasks were quite easy, relaxing, yet sometimes exciting! I was normally washing the dishes, cleaning, sometimes cooking, and playing with kids. Depending on the weather I also had interesting tasks like gardening, picking and washing flowers for syrups! It was more like a fun activity rather than a task. The farm is surrounded by a beautiful nature, which is the best place to get away from the busyness of life. On off days I went to the forest, beach, and town-hiking. All the time Tuba and other people offered a help for transfer. Overall I couldn’t expect more. This farm and all the new friends has become a special memory in my heart. I was so lucky to have met you. Thank you so much for amazing two weeks. See you again!

Gilles is the best! It was our absolute pleasure to host him! He is such a kind, easy going and independent person. Not to mention an extraordinarily talented and hard worker. During his time with us he constructed an incredible vanity for our project, and it is truly a masterpiece. He is a very valuable person to have working with you, and we could not recommend him enough to future hosts! Gilles was a fabulous house guest, and we really enjoyed spending time with him in the evenings and during days off. Thank you so much for all the time you gave to us and our project, we appreciate all you did!

We spent two weeks at Cristian's farm in the first half of May 2024, during the autumn/winter in the area. It was cold with snow and temperatures as low as -6 celsius. We would describe our experience as excellent. We were taught by Cristian how to be independent with the farm running tasks from the start, which for us was a good thing as it made us learn more things, faster. Working with animals was our priority before coming and we were certainly able to do this - herding cows, sheep, feeding them, managing chickens, dogs, donkeys and horses was all part of the experience. Our highlights include: helping Cristian with the vet checking for pregnancy of cows on day 1, the baby horse being born on day 2, searching for and escorting the bull and separating the male and female cows, building the foundations of a new path in the corral which will stop baby lambs from getting stuck in the mud, freeing the rams from their field for the breeding season, and driving the Chevy truck loaded with gravel or wood around the farm. Cristian also took us to visit the animal fayre in Coyhaique where livestock is bought and sold by auction - this was fascinating and gave an insight into the business aspect of how farms are run and how livestock moves. Cristian was always available over whatsapp to support us and answer any questions, he would also come to the farm every 2/3 days and spend the night there. During this time he would show us/help us with anything and we would also spend a nice time together chatting, drinking mate, and learning about his lifestyle in Patagonia. He is very easy to talk to and get along with. The beauty of the surroundings of the farm cannot be underestimated, lakes, snow capped mountains, lenga and pine forests. We spent a day off visiting Coyhaique and other days walking to the viewpoint above and waterfall near the farm. Cristian is also very generous with the provisions that he supplies for volunteers, we ate very well during our time at the farm and felt we had everything we needed. On our last night we were invited to stay at Cristian's home in Coyhaique where we felt welcomed as part of the family. If you are someone who likes satisfying hard work in the outdoors, being independent, and working with animals, then this place is perfect.

Leni has been great in her short time at our farm. She was mainly involved in the creation of the new vegetable garden, giving her maximum energy in this difficult and tiring job. She created perfectly parallel raised rows where she then placed the holed pipes for irrigation on the top. She then planted hundreds of seedlings of all types in exact correspondence with the holes ready to be irrigated. The result was truly exceptional. Now the plants have already grown and we are already starting to harvest the first tender lettuce leaves. We recognize Leni's great merits for having immediately learned these new horticultural techniques, for having worked with great energy and enthusiasm in the difficult and tiring work and for having faced and solved many problems. Thanks Leni!

Lucie and Pius, were very helpful. Even though they came with three kids they helped us greatly. They were very proactive and managed on their own the place while we were in holidays for almost one month. They took care perfectly of our animals, our vegetable garden and the rest of the facilities as if it was their own home. We recommend Lucie and Pius to any host needing support.

Spending almost 3 months at Swan's Island was a beautiful experience. Ann and River are excellent people with good feelings, always willing to teach us how to do the different activities in their beautiful house. Ann is an incredible cook (she has a nun's hand, as they say in chile hahahaha), enjoying her delicious dishes after a day of work was incredible. I thank them for their patience with my English, they helped me a lot in my learning. If you like quiet places, where you can walk and breathe peace, Isla Swan's is the right place. Taking care of 4 sheep and 12 hens and chickens was a very entertaining experience. I highly recommend spending some time with this beautiful family.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to host Julia and Nicolas, but as they were in the area they came to visit me anyway to see how they could help me. Julia then came to help in the garden for about 5 days and was a dynamic, positive force. She also has some experience in permaculture and gardening, which was great. I very much enjoyed the days she was here and really appreciated her willingness to get things done and her friendly attitude.

It was lovely to share space with Jasmine for a few weeks, who was a great help around the garden and in the kitchen. We had good times together venturing around the island, playing games and evening and chatting, very easy to get along with. Our animals were also very happy to have her as company!... it's definitely true that she is a great caretaker.
