Area: Graaff-ReinetOur farm is part of the Compassberg Protected Environment near the top of the catchment of the Sneeuberg Mountains of the Great Karoo. We farm cattle and in the future will be running dramatherapy workshops and retreats. This remote farm is far away from the air/sound/light/noise pollution of the city. It is the ideal place to connect with yourself and with nature. We are an hour drive from the nearest ATM machine/petrol station and 20 minutes on a bumpy road to the nearest small shop. Sometimes we are cut off from civilisation for a few days when the rains turn the roads into mud soup. We do weather in a big way: In winter we have can have snow and freezing temperatures, in summer we have flash floods, electric storms and occasionally intense heat (though being up in the mountains our temperatures are never get too unbearable high for too long). But if you love mountains and fresh air and you don't need cell phone reception then you will love this farm.

Area: Mbaleour Youth Development Centre is a registered NGO located in Mbale district ,Uganda East Africa. Dealing with most complicated challenges faced by at risk youngsters. we are and determined to carry on with the vision and mission of helping the youth left themselves out of poverty through our Youth Centre and humanitarian work but we are calling on volunteers from all corners of the world to give a hand. The projects and activities help empower at risk Youths with skills to overcome poverty and support vulnerable children live a healthy and productive life. We form a Non Government Organization (NGO) located in Mbale District, Eastern Uganda, started as a result of the appalling hard situations in the community amongst disadvantaged young people, that had led to a rise in crime rates, street children, early pregnancies and early marriages leave alone dropping out of school by many children and youth. Lack of employment, death or separation of parents, lack of school fees and other scholastic materials, drug and forms of child abuse have been responsible. Founders of the organization discovered that providing the affected and vulnerable children and youth with a means of survival and keeping them busy can help in reducing the impact of this situation on the community. The aim is to give vulnerable children the chance to learn skills that would offer them a route out of poverty, lifting them off the streets and away from the risks of drug culture, violence and crime. Who Can Volunteer? Our volunteer program is open to anyone with a sense of compassion, a desire to spend time around children, and a modicum of humor. We welcome individuals and couples of all ages, plus families with teenaged children. Participants should be healthy for travel, and tolerant of less than stellar living conditions and amenities. We prefer that you have a skill or a focus but no experience is necessary. Volunteer opportunities can be organized for community, school, or corporate groups. Help Orphans and Underprivileged Children: Volunteers give assistance, care and comfort to orphans and vulnerable children living in an orphanage. Volunteers provide the children with the adult attention they crave and deserve; teaching them languages, computer skills, games, music, etc. Creative Recycling: This social enterprise project collects plastic trash from the streets and transforms them into stylish and fashionable bags. It welcomes volunteers with a background in IT, design, env. education, photography, business or social sciences. There are beautiful walks we would be happy to show you and a horse for horse rides. We are a family of four living on a twenty hectare Organic Farm. Our aim is to be as self-sufficient as possible and farm in a morally responsible manner. We have +/- twenty cows which we milk, eat and use as fertilisors; four breeding pigs; in-numeral chickens for eggs, meat and as de-tickers; a flock of geese. The herd of goats is for land-clearing and milk; the horse, mule and donkey for grazing rotation. Our three dogs besides being pets are for breeding. We also have a few hives of bees for honey. We grow our own vegetables in our large vegetable garden. We have two children, who are home schooled, so volunteers who enjoy children are especially welcome.
