Description
We are a couple living on an orangery (a grove of various orange trees) on the outskirts of Tazerka in the Governorate of Nabeul; the orange trees were planted some 60 years ago, so the agricultural activity is very limited, but it is nice to be surrounded by fruit trees and other trees that we planted for the pleasure! As weel as see around peacocks, a few hens and 3 geese...
The buildings are traditional architecture; our home as well as the studio which can accommodate volunteers.
We live there and have one salaried worker mostly for the agricultural tasks and some other tasks at other periods of the year. So that leaves him little time to do other chores.
That is why we need seasonal volunteers to help with gardening (mostly cleaning and trimming); miscellaneous types of handiwork (among them painting or helping with the traditional annual whitewashing of outer walls).
The other great help possible is with our many pets (dogs and cats). I do need help for periodic tasks like giving flea treatment or treating ear mite problems, or giving a shower to dogs... and for the daily meal serving... but of course, cuddling dogs and cats is most welcome!
Helping with cooking or taking in charge cooking meals from time to time is most welcome too!Types of help and learning opportunities

Volunteers will have the opportunity to stay in a traditional orange farm in a very pleasant region, along the seaside close to a village, Tazerka; to go sightseeing at a reasonable distance (Nabeul / Hammamet / Kelibia / Kerkouane / Haouaria); to go to the weekly markets of the nearby city. They will discover local food, see how an orange farm is run. And get first hand information on the Tunisian way of life.
Help
Help will mostly be needed from October to April.
Most of the farm work is done by our permanent employee but we do need extra help from time to time for some light tasks.
Other help needed:
1/ Miscellanious such as - gardening (cleaning, trimming bushes and hedges) /- storing and reorganizing /- wall or furniture painting light tasks /- light handiwork such as drilling holes in a wall to fix a shelf.
2/ We have quite a number of cats and (less) dogs, which means getting supplies for them, feeding them and caring for them, treating them agains flees, giving a bath to the dogs, etc.Languages

There is an independent studio close to ou house to accommodate volunteers; bedroom and bathroom (equipped with fridge & electric coffee machine). Plus a veranda. Internet connection is available.
Volunteers can prepare their own breakfast with food provided (and have it on their veranda or with us). And have lunch and dinner with me.What else ...
On free time it is easy for volunteers to go out to short distance places like Korba (just out of Korba is the Africa Jade center including shops, restaurant, coffee shop) or Nabeul or Hammamet. Collective taxis are available and the fares are very cheap. At warm periods of the year it is possible to swim in the sea (1.4 km from here). Also for those interested by birdwatching, there are four wetlands along the shore close by, the nearest being along the beach of Tazarka, the village nearby, hosting many species of wild birds.
