I only spent a week here but I really enjoyed my time getting to know the family and absorbing the Filipino culture. I got to know the family well and truly enjoyed everything from helping out at the farm, babysitting the hilarious 3yr old Elli and of course karaoke with Lola! (nana). The accommodation isn't the ritz but leaves you immersed in the area of sibaltan which is a lovely little town to walk around, get to know locals and even play football/basketbal with the local teams. The scuba diving is awesome as well! The food was amazingly crafted by Lola with the fresh ingredients of the farm along with fish caught on the day along with plenty of fruit 🙏🏻 will miss you guys! thanks for having us 🫶

Jana came with her son Honza to help us in the garden: cutting branches, clearing the space, burning discarded wood... She's a keen traveler and helper. 👍 I'm glad she came to give us a hand and that she was happy to hang out with me and my kids during her free time. Future hosts, welcome this nice little family!

I was lucky to stay with this lovely family for 2 months. I had the chance to go on holiday with them and volunteer at the local nature preserve where Nicole works. Overall, it was a wonderful, cozy experience and the ideal place for me to work on my book. I got so much done thanks to their flexible schedule for me and private room. Their town is really charming with so much history. They also loaned me a bike which made it so easy to get around and explore the nearby Orange Trail. It was a terrific experience and I'm so grateful, carrying them with me along my trip, in my heart always now.

I stayed in Shankari's back in mid of Dec '23. At first I only signed up for one week stay, but I ended up spending 5 weeks there as the experience there really changed my life even from the first day I arrived there. I experienced so much personal and spiritual growth during my stay here. The place is so magical that it provided me healing space & growth for my personal and spiritual journey. The property located on the bank of the river which is connected to the sea, which provide beautiful view. I sometimes swam in the river when the water is clear and experiencing great healing and learning with the help of the energy from the river and spirits there. Two times during my stay here. Through time, I found a favorite place where I could lie down meditating every morning , the quiet and tranquil place, facing the sea, the big stone on the river bank. It's a big change in my life meeting Shankari, the families, and all the volunteer friends I met there. I missed hanging out with them watching sunset and hanging out in the seaside cafe. ☺️ Truly magical place. This place has become a stepping stone towards more magical experiences in my life. Thank you Shankari for opening your place for me ❤️❤️❤️

Had a great time at Jerome and Hanako's beautiful permaculture place! Jerome and Hanako are kind and caring people and we had wonderful shared breakfast, lunch, dinners and interesting conversations. They have great ideas for the project and it's truly an inspiring step towards a more sustainable world. I enjoyed working in the garden, with clear instructions and with the trust that I was given! And was even able to taste some of our great bamboo harvest 😊. The instructions beforehand were very clear and it's important to follow the rules (like keeping the house clean, closing doors etc) so that everyone can have a good time and the place can be maintained in a nice state for next workawayers. We worked 4 days a week, and had three days off. Thank you so, so much Hanako and Jerome for providing me with a temporary home, permaculture knowledge, new friends and a taste of Japanese home cooking. Hopefully I can come back some time ❤️. Hosting Chiara was really a great pleasure!! Despite her young age is a really interesting persons, we had good conversation and enjoyed time she spent here on the island. She's really dedicated and help us a lot within the house and Kawà. Hope to host you again in the future! Baci

Felicia and Olle, and their lovely young dog Leia, stayed with me for nearly 3 weeks, and what a grand time we all had. They were co operative, communicative, friendly and helpful. Always willing to help with jobs needing doing in the garden and once we established what needed doing, they worked on their own initiative and helped greatly with getting the garden ready for Summer. Together we pruned shrubs, tidied bits of overgrown areas, planted out a rockery, and created an area of hedging. We made over a 100 new cuttings ready to grow for next year , such as geraniums, aloe vera, cacti, and daisies. My neighbour came and cut back the tops of some very high Yucca trees, and Felicia and Olle cut them into shape, stripped off lots of leaves, and got the cuttings ready to be planted, so hopefully, my neighbour will have a new plantation of yucca trees in a few years time. They are both good communicators, speaking in perfect English confidently on all sorts of topics. I found them both to be easy to get along with , helpful and courteous in being part of the household and tidy on the domestic front. They also varnished both of my pallet garden furniture We went out on some nice walks and generally had a lovely time. Felicia's lemon cake is a bit special !! I would welcome them back in a heartbeat. Just have them to stay, you will not regret it.

It’s difficult to put into words the sheer energy and joy that Nelleke brings to everything she does. Quite apart from her vibrancy, she’s totally reliable and she’s great fun to be around. In case anyone’s wondering, she’s also a great worker, giving her all and more besides. In the almost three weeks that Nelleke spent here she covered so much of the garden, completely transforming it and with the same commitment as though it were her own. She’s also a very good cook. As well as being outgoing and friendly she’s curious about everything and all around her. I miss her and so does quite a portion of our little community.

Jeanne was with us for around a month, she engaged in a wide variety of tasks. She worked in the kitchen, in the garden and also helped with painting and decorating. She was responsive, helpful and enthusiastic with pretty much everything that was asked of her. She made easy connections with the people in the community and engaged fully with the life here.

Dan and Jay were here for 3 weeks and managed to accomplish lots during their stay. From cleaning out the RV, to pounding fence poles, clearing land, helping with all aspects of animal care, picking rocks, weeding, repairing fences, housekeeping and general tidying on the property, they kept themselves busy and were a tremendous help. On the personal front, they were great fun, positive and self-motivated with many fascinating stories of their travels and undersea adventures. Stay safe and keep laughing! Hugs, Alison

I was welcomed warmly and like a member of the family! Everything was in place to make my stay as pleasant as possible! We shared many convivial moments (discussions, games, walks, cooking...). This family is a golden family who will do everything to make you feel at ease and help you (advice on what to do around Hlinsko...)! You can trust them 100%! I'm happy to have met them and to still be in contact with them, it will always be an unforgettable encounter! In the words of French poet Paul Eluard “There are no coincidences, only appointments.”

We loved having Charlotte stay with us. She was kind, hard working, and good company. Her care and attention to detail always gave me confidence that she’d do a great job at any task I handed her. Definitely recommend welcoming her into your home! Thanks Charlotte.

Sabine is a super easy going person. We loved to be with here, nice enery and good talks. She is a great cook and hard worker. We loved here independence, she did things what was needed without we asked here. She just see we can be done. That was so pleasant. Unfortunately she couldn't stay longer but we love to see here back. Thanks Sabine for your stay!

I spent 10 wonderful days taking care of their dogs and the house for a few hours a day as previously agreed. Their welcome was super warm, I felt at home straight away. I took advantage of all the free time to go for nature walks or go to downtown Calgary. Having dinner all together is what makes the difference: for sure it's a nice moment to share our experiences, ideas and opinions. I miss their dogs so so much!!! Ten days that will remain in my heart. Thank you!

Marco you're a great guy and an inspiration to me! Thank you for sharing the stories about your travels to Africa and for the tips of traveling in Sicily. During the stay I did a lot of furniture refurbishing, repainting rooms and repairing appliances around hostel. Marco let me pick the jobs I liked the most and was always ready with tools and supplies to work smoothly. Also thank you for sharing your swimming exuipment and bicycles, thanks to it I was never bored. You're a good friend and companion, thank you for everything. I absolutely recommend this host! Where to begin... Staying with the family was a very special moment for me: they immediately greeted me into their life, I felt at home and safe with them. They all have so much energy, love and curiosity, you can never be bored, and there are always up for many activities and eager to show you around and share a lot on Italian culture. The kids (Jacopo, Giovanni and Anita) are just SO cute, sensitive and easy going, and most of all: really funny. I loved the moments with them (calcio in the garden, Star Wars, board games, strolling around or biking around in Brescia, going to the partita di calcio, pizza night on Saturday). When kids would go to bed after dinner, we would talk with Marta and Stefano, they know so many things, we had a lot of discussions and debates, laughed a lot, all in Italian of course. I learned so much and I really improved my Italian. Marta is such an incredible mother, and helping out with the kids was more than easy because she has so much energy and dedication to the kids (and love, it is so cute). My "job" was just mainly being around, to help out and play with the kids, but Marta and Stefano are really arranging and they wanted to make sure I was OK with every activity and task of the day. I had plenty of time to explore the region during the day, from the morning to 4PM more or less (lago di Garda, lago d'Iseo e Monte Isola, Cremona...) and they give you recommendations. Overall, this family is full of love, they are generous and with beautiful values, and we feel part of the family. Jacopo, Giovanni e Anita, Marta e Stefano, I miss you so much already, but we will see each other again in Paris or in Brescia, you are my Italian family now :)

Valeryia is a lovely young woman from Belarus who was only able to stay with us for 1 week, although we would have liked her to stay for much longer. Her English is excellent and indeed she is qualified to teach the language which she does online in her spare time. We found that we had very similar interests and concerns, particularly in the area of conserving the environment and we spent many hours discussing related issues. Valeryia came to us with few practical skills but was an excellent student. She spent most of the week helping Adrian to lay a 40m2 terrace with large paving stones. These are laid on sand and she became expert at spreading and levelling the sand, making placing the paving stones much simpler. Most people hate weeding but Valeryia loved it and this became her project for the rest of the time she was with us. We would welcome her her back at any time.

My husband and I stayed with Rodrigo and his friends in Arequipa for 2 weeks and after that we went to Lima where Rodrigo’s family are currently living and spend time with them for 5 days. It’s impossible to describe how much they are great and wonderful. We were very welcomed as I could feel we are a part of them. Their friendship and family bond is so beautiful and impressive. When we were in Arequipa, Rodrigo and his friends made us amazing dishes not only Peruvian ones but Greek or British etc… since they are professional cooks and future ones of greatest chefs in the world. We hung out to many attractions in Arequipa and he even helped us making reservation on one day trip for Colca canyon. After moving to Lima, his super kind parents, siblings and adorable dog cookie warmly welcomed us. We luckily got an opportunity to meet even his uncle, aunt, cousins, grandma and grandpa. Meeting with them have become best highlights of our whole year world trip. We we were born is almost apposite side of the earth but it’s not a big deal for us because our friendship will last forever and we both will do own best to see each other. See you in two years or less👋

A wonderful experience in this very kind little family! We spent a week in Tokaj with them and we had a great time ❤️. Anna and Marci are very open-minded and very interesting people. Their children are intelligent and adorable! They accepted our 6 month old dog and were very tolerant even though he was a little excited because he was a baby. We learned a few Hungarian words and tasted some typical dishes! The work is fair and pleasant! We are very happy to have met them and hope to see them again one day! The room was very comfortable and there are lots of beautiful walks and wine cellars to visit in the region. It was very enriching and a great cultural exchange! I highly recommend this workout!!! Alicia is a great great girl.!!! She is super organized and fun. Despite her youth, she is a VERY responsible girl with children, so I went to work super calm. Kids have told me every day all the laughs they have had. I have some really cool photos of when they played a water game,😊 they also baked a cake, painted murals with colored chalk,... they played/made super fun activities! To sum up, we had SUPER pleasant stay since Alicia is an outgoing girl and easy to be with. Un abrazo enorme Alicia, te queremos!!!!!!
