Hi We are a family of 5 Britsh people living in France my daughter is 16 my 2 sons are 13 and 12 I am 48 going on 25 and my husband is 53. We live in a beautiful rural part of France with one of the oldest castles in the region . We have horses cats a dog chickens geese turkeys and 7 pet sheep. We are trying to restore a barn from 1650 which we need help with we have plenty of land and we are often outside chopping trees down for firewood as well as replanting. We have plums and figs which you can pick and eat straight from the tree no chemicals involved. We have bikes if you want to go for a bike ride and people swim in the local lake We would be happy to offer accommodation and food to either a couple or single volunteers who would be happy to get their hands dirty working alongside me or my husband on any one of our projects. We get involved in what is going on around us in the village and they are always happy to meet other people. It does get cold here later in the year but the caravan is very warm, better than the house. There is full free internet access. No smoking in the house or caravan but you are free to smoke outside

We are a Franco-New Zealand-British family living in scenic Brittany. We have 4 children - a 6year old little boy and 3 big ones who are away studying but are often here during weekends and holidays. We are close to the historic towns of St Malo and Dinan and only 40mins from the spectacular Mont St Michel. As we have lived in the area for many years and have children at school we are very much part of the local community. We have our own local beach (and resident seal) only 800metres away and are close to many other great beaches as well. Two years ago we moved into our large old home, known as a 'maison de maitre' which we are busily restoring. We are also creating appartments in the 300 year old barn. Our aim is to restore the buildings in an ecologically-sound manner. We are looking for enthusiastic people who are keen to help us in our restoration project in return for experiencing a little bit of French life. Marc and the children are the French ones so their accents are better than Kate's but we can all help if you want to improve your French. We live within a short walk of the local village with it's boulangerie, creperie, cafes and bars and cider factory. As in most of Brittany, the area is steeped in history and traditions and we can share our knowledge of the area, its customs, cuisine and music. We are a couple who have both travelled widely and lived in several other countries. We love meeting people from elsewhere and delight in sharing our knowledge and experience of life here in France. We love the workaway concept and our experience with workaway over the last 18 months has been fantastic - we have met many wonderful and interesting people and have made life-long friends.

Area: Midi Pyrenees

I live, with my two teenage children, in one of the most beautiful areas of France, where time has stopped at its best. Mas Sarrat is the ideal place to escape the hassle and frustrations of modern living and get life back into perspective. We are an English family and speak English at home - although we can all speak French! We have a wonderfully varied and exciting lifestyle in our lovely old farmhouse, but there never seems enough time to keep it quite as lovely as I'd like. I'm kept busy working as a part-time chef, teacher and translator (and Mum) and would welcome help in the garden and around the home, throughout the year. Our latest excitement is a barn conversion to two cottages for this summer (2013). Things are moving on a pace and I would love gardening, painting, shelf putting-up help too!

Area: Bretagne

We are a Franco-Canadian family of 4 living in the city of Brest, in Brittany, a 4 1/2 hour train ride from Paris, 2 hours from Rennes. We speak fluent English French, Italian, and some German. Our apartment is located right downtown, a 15-minute bus ride away from the beach, one block from the main square and main bus / tramway lines. The train / coach station (destinations including Quimper, le Conquet, Rennes) is a block away. The beach is 15 minutes away. We live close to the pubs and restaurants, and the lively Brest ports ( with boat rides to the Islands of Ouessant, Sein, Molene) are a 15-minute walk away too. If you wish to meet fellow travellers, local and foreign students, there is an international group in Brest bringing together expatriates and internationally-oriented people with mutual language and cultural interests in a spirit of shared generosity. It organises a vast choice of events including casual bar nights, language-exchange evenings, special events (BBQ, picnic) and parties.
