Description
Hi, I’m Alyx married to Malcolm and we recently move to France from the Uk. We bought a large house in the Calvados region that we are in the process of renovating. It has a large garden which needs managing. Well a bit more than managing! We are walking distance to the historical town of Vire which has everything one needs for everyday living though we feel we are in the country. We overlook a wooded valley and we love it, it’s a great place to be.
I speak some French but not great though I can get by. Still learning, which is good, it means my brain is still working.Types of help and learning opportunities

Our area is full of history and we have a museum which is interesting for local history with information dating back to the 12th century.
We are English but have been living in France for 6 years and have French and English friends from many walks of life.
We enjoy music, art, outdoors, reading, and anything interesting and captures the imagination…..
Our home is interesting as it has a public tunnel running under it. We have discovered flooring in the garden next to the house. This was another room but was demolished. We want to dig out what looks like a stairway to see if there is anything of interest. We have some much to learn. We find it exciting.Projects involving children

Help
I am looking for someone who gets satisfaction from seeing a project well done.
As previously mentioned we have a large garden and needs some tender loving care as not much has been done for a few years. We have a vegetable garden which we would like to get things growing in.
So some knowledge of plants and gardens would be kinda good but not entirely necessary.
We are renovating and most of the construction work is finished so it’s now mainly painting and decorating.
I would also like some help around the house, general chores and some cooking.Languages

I do not find it easy to learn languages but I studied French and Spanish at school. Funnily enough I was rubbish at French but now live in France and manage to get by and am learning new words all the time. Spanish was easier but have now forgotten most of it.Accommodation
Own room with bathroom but has to be kept clean as used for rental when not occupied by a work away.
Or you can set up a tent on the terrace and use house facilities. All have a beautiful view over the valley and private.
Food will be provided, but special requirements can be shopped for within reason.
No drunkenness, no drugs and no parties. Sorry to say that but one never knows so better said. What else ...
Time off, you have virtually everything within walking distance. There is a train station that goes to the coast of Granville and also Paris (just under 3hrs away). Bus station where you can visit Caen. (1hr)
Or you can chill at the house.
We like our own space but also like to socialize.
My husband is older than me and likes to read a lot. I work from home.
I would like to think that I am respectful of what people do for me and hope that I would be a fair host.A little more information
