Description
Hello, I'm MJ, I love travelling the world, trading stories and getting inspiration from others. Rather recently, I was living in New Zealand for three years. I felt very fortunate to be in such a beautiful landscape and connect with fellow backpackers during my time there. Bicycle touring is something that I am very passionate about and have been able to do through three different countries at a leisurely pace along the way.
I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mexico for two years giving Biointensive gardening workshops to local schools and organizations. I've helped build an Earthship in central Mexico, and helped to construct a yoga institute in southern Mexico, and I also built a hiking trail near San Diego at a Spiritual Retreat Center during work exchanges through the volunteering platform Helpx.net. Learning Spanish was a very enjoyable experience that I am happy to share with others, and can also help English learners as well.
After three years living/working in Mexico, I moved back to the US and have worked with the Utah Conservation Corps doing chainsaw work for fire management and wildlife protection. I've worked with many kids camps as a counselor and have 2 nephews of my own, so childcare and babysitting are right up my alley. In addition to that, caring for dogs, cats, horses, reptiles, and any farm or domesticated animals are all areas that I have experience in.
