  • Description

    Hi :)
My name is Sıla. I'm 22 years old and currently majoring in English Language and Literature in Turkey.
In an age, in which every subtle difference in meaning is suppressed and all kinds of nuances are censored by the follow the flock mentality, I personally have found solace in literature. Broadly speaking, in the grace of the poetic forms of existence . Combined with conceptual/ literary knowledge, I now feel the urge to bring the essence of my perception into action.
So, with that said, I'm embarking on a solo journey, which will be my first experience abroad since the touristic trip I took in Europe when I was 15 years old. The plan is to arrive Nantes on the 8th of July and then slowly hitchike back to Turkey, camping, volunteering and catching up with some street festivals in the mean time. I have two months of volunteering experience, which happened randomly in 2021 summer , where I was working in the kitchen at a campsite in Kabak Bay/ Turkey ( a holiday destination that attracts both foreigners and locals who are interested in alternative ways of vacation, recommended for the visitors of Turkey) , helping my chefs to prepeare dishes for large groups of people and also expertizing on washing dishes proffesion with an honest smile on :) enjoying the meditative states of community work. I've also started hosting people on Couchsurfing when I was 18, so I'm acquainted with the mindset and I enjoy that very much.
I like to witness the different ways of how people live, vibe and express their own concepts of Reality, since I believe every person is unique in the way they create their indentity, full of events which can never again recur in history. So, I would like to hear the stories of how my hosts got where they are :)
I'm hardworking, faithful in terms of timing (schedule), and I'm determined to seek for Beauty in everything. I value honesty and genuine connections in any kind of relationship, and I seek for harmony. I'm a newbie on yoga, and in considering off-grid life styles, eager to learn more about these subjects. I'm into Eastern philosophy, can teach a thing or two. I enjoy singing in music circles, playing a little ukulele or guitar, music brings me joy and flux in the moment. I'm willing to invest my time in volunteering, I believe I have much to learn from this way of life that is beyond what the world offers.

Thanks for checking my profile, I would like to hear from you :)

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have experience working in a kitchen, mainly doing meal preperations and dishes as well as doing basic campsite maintenence. I have experience teaching English to a toddler that I've privately worked with for a couple of months. I also have a keen eye for photography, so I can provide you some pictures if you are up for social media work. But except all of this, I'm eager to learn any kind of skills and I don't shy away from physical work. I'm active and sportive, and a quick learner.

Here is a nice story about hospitality from Sufi perception :)

"Once upon a time, the dervishes of a dergah (Sufi lodge) located on a road would welcome every passerby as a guest. No words were spoken there. The dervishes expressed what they wanted to convey from their hearts. One day, a traveler arrived at the door of the dergah. The traveler stood at the door and waited. The dervishes understood that a guest had arrived through their intuition, so there was no need for a doorknocker. After a while, the door opened, and the dervish inside gazed at the traveler standing before them. Without exchanging any greetings, their silent conversation began. The arriving traveler wanted to stay in the dergah. The dervish went inside, then returned with a bowl filled to the brim with water and offered it to the traveler. It meant, "We are too full to accommodate a new guest." The traveler entered the garden of the dergah and placed a rose petal on the surface of the water in the bowl. The rose petal gracefully floated on the top the water, without causing the bowl to overflow. The dervish opened the door and welcomed the stranger inside. There was always room for a rose petal that wouldn't cause the water to overflow."

I would like to come in the grace of a rose petal and cause no harm or burden.
