Description
Howdy,
I'm Pip. I'm a dabbler. I like being outside, the satisfaction that comes from hard manual labour, and asking questions. I'm an economics student but I also like drawing pictures of vegetables in the margins of my school notes. I've found myself doing this more and more lately, so I figured it's about time I took a semester off to go learn in a more hands-on way. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I like a lot of different things and I am quite curious about the world.
I'm interested in doing work aways because I want to travel to new places and really BE there. I want to be part of local systems and actively participate in the places that I visit rather than just pass through. I also want to learn about different ways of farming because I only have experience with one certain kind of farming.
I spend the first half of my summers in Canada planting trees, and the second half working on a farm. Planting trees in Canada is hard piece-work (we are paid per tree that we plant) that involves bending over 2,000-2,500 times per day in all terrains, weather, and moods. It sounds a bit crazy but that's what it is. I guess you could say I have a weird interest and knack for hard work.
Working on the farm I coordinate farm camps, which means teaching kids how to harvest potatoes, whittle spoons and cook pizza in a wood fire oven, among other fun things. I love that on the farm there's a motley crew of people that work there, and we make do with what we have. Everyone has to play many roles, but we're all part of something that I think we, dare I say, believe in!
I'm finding more happiness in the simple things in life; my morning coffee, the dew on my toes on early mornings, a really cold swim, learning something that makes me look at the world a little differently, a good chat.Centres d’intérêt

I am interested in learning Spanish, mainly in a practical/conversational manner. I love to talk, so when in someone else's country I want to be able to speak their language.Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

I've been lucky to have grown up spending lots of time outside (hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, skiing), I feel very comfortable in the outdoors. and especially doing physical labour outside. I spend the first half of my summers in Canada planting trees. Planting trees in Canada is piece-work (we are paid per tree that we plant) that involves bending over to plant a tree 2,000-2,500 times per day in all terrains, weather, and moods. It sounds a bit crazy but that's what it is. I guess you could say I have a bit of a knack for hard work.
In the second half of the summer I work on a small farm in my hometown on the coast of British, I coordinate farm camps, which means teaching kids how to harvest potatoes, whittle spoons and cook pizza in a wood fire oven, and many things in between. I love that on the farm there's a motley crew of people that work there, and we make do with what we have. Everyone has to play many roles, but we're all part of something that I think we, dare I say, believe in!
I speak English fluently and have had experience teaching in other subjects (never a language) but I would be interested in trying. I am also proficient in French and super eager to speak with anyone.
Other than that... I love working in teams but I am also quite self motivated so I can work alone too. I can provide references too!Âge

I really love to cook, making meals for other and cooking with people is one of my favourite parts of the day. And, of course, I love eating good food too. I play the fiddle and am learning the guitar so I'm quite eager to sit play with people.
I'm travelling with my good friend Havannah (also from Canada, and works on the same farm as I), and we'd ideally stay and work together.Informations complémentaires
